Post #87100 How do i find my router?

I am new to this all and i dont no how to find my router neither how to port forward my server. Whenever i try typing 192.168.1.1 in my browser, it will pop up a verizon thingy.

Also, can anybody also help me sorta like a guide on how to portforward my server cause it will show an error of 401 Connection timed out.

You are fucking kidding me right? You want to run a server, but you can't even do something as simple as "find your router"...?
192.168.1.1 is NOT always going to be the router... Anyways, what you are connecting to is either the Verizon Modem, which is your gateway to the internet, or possible a Verizon All-In-One modem/router. To find your router do WinFlagKey + R -> Type CMD -> ipconfig /all -> and look forDefault Gateway under Local Area Connection, or Wireless Area Connection (if you have a wireless adapter). Default Gateway = Router 50% of the time. If that doesn't work look on your router or do a network scan. As for port forwarding, learn to search..

To find your router:

Look in the back of your computer and follow the ethernet cable (if its wired) when you find the end you have found your router=D... If its wireless then walk around your house and find it.

Next:

google how to access router?? Since the one you tried didnt work try 192.168.0.1   If that dont work then ( Google how to access -enter router name here- and try what it says..

If youve made it this far Grats.....

NOW its time to work up a sweat

Type your router address in the url box   (EX)192.168.0.1

you should then be asked for a user name and a password. If theres not something already saved in the username and password   Try admin or administrator for the username and password for the password. If none of thoes work then go back to step one and ask google orcontact your routerprovider

If you made it past that it should of opened some sort of window that has your router info and all that in it.  Look around in there for someting that says -->PORTFOWARDING <--  and click it. It should say something like   ( Name,Startport,Endport,Protocol,Local ip address )

Once you've found that minimize the window and got to start in the search bar type CMD, Now type ipconfig/all, Scroll up untill you find IPv4 address.

Now restore your internet window On the portfowarding page.. and put that address as your local ip address.

Thats about it... Make sure you name it, Keep your start port and end port the same this will be the port you use to connect to your server, For protocol just pick both if thats a option it was for me =P.. Hope this helped

Good luck with server hosting
