Server stuff..
I'm just wondering what are some good ideas(your own opinions) to add towards a PK (deadly) server? Should I add stuff like, "fishing, mining" and "Aoe, buffs" and "High exp and easy exp, or Low and hard exp", or "High drops, low drops, crafts" etc... Just tell me what you think should be added,
I like to hear from the players and maybe just some relevant ideas to the subject as well.

I think the main exp should be gained from lvl to lvl pk wins,the other stuff seems cool for hanging out but I would create a nice pk lv-lvl/exp battle system.So for example your lvl 10 and your opponent is 100 and you take him out the exp per win should grow like 90% like an = battle would be
1000 exp if you beat a lvl 100 at lvl 10 would be what 9000 exp per win, if your lvl 100 and beat a lvl 10 it would be a flat 1k.

For hard Monsters make some better drops maybe items for crafts but not to often.
No1 likes a 2 easy server specially on a pk server. DO NOT HAVE AOE. Erm Deffo crafts ask Zach for help he made a decant server but ended quite soon and ask Ramy/Culio for ideas

Thank you for the replies insomniac & Crime I will most definitely take those in-to consideration, but now I have to learn more about coding so I can add that system insomniac said, I'm thinking maybe add some rare item drops to PK kills too, if that is possible.

Yeah for sure I've got some old codes around for the same thing. The rare drops is a great idea to,you can build off that quite a bit.

You totally need Anti Gank, having lvl 100's running around killing lvl 10's would just suck. Also, Aoe is just stupid I wouldn't suggest that at all. If you need anymore Idea's message me on Msn :].

For the level 100 it would be strait defense, the level 10 might try and attack and if they win a big reward would be nice.The AOE debate arises some people love it/hate it and well regulated it can be fun in my opinion. When I was working on a zombie server I
created a grenade that was editable from a config file, random + spaces forward "explode"and then blow up so many w/h around where it landed :D. I think most AOE is over used and makes the battles unmanageable,but rare items like that YEH who would expect that!

@everyone else: Thanks for the replies, I've been trying to add most of those things, and I'm a pretty decent mapper so I don't think I'll need to worry about that. I might add an item called, "Portable Bank", I might even make it a spell.. so lets say, you're trying to bring your items you
worked so hard on to bring to your bank.. and you get rushed by like 2 guys, both way higher levels then you.. and you need to put your stuff away and get your pk stuff, so you can just use the spell and or item to access that bank and add the items in. (Not sure if this is good or bad, because a
good part about a deadly server is items drop from the people you kill so I might or might not add this)
I've also thought about a, "Global Market" so players can sell there achieved items faster, so they are not always using the GLB only, but I can't say I'm the first to come up with this idea, I've seen it twice on other servers, and I think I could add my own system for that. As for EXP and
Monsters, I've thought maybe for guilds, I'll make it so you cannot kill your own guild members while being in such guild. Also I might make boss maps so you cannot pk other players, like in these said areas you mostly work as a team.. (I may decide not even to add bosses, not sure yet)
I also want to add safe zones to the beginning parts of a map, so as soon as you walk into a map, you're not rushed and instently killed by players, (This is a must have for me) I don't really like having a shit ton of complaints from people saying, "zomygerd, this n00b juzt raped me by spawn
killen me BANBANBAN!" I'd much rather have a 2x2 area safe zone between warps into PVP areas. I'd also like most towns to be non pk areas as well (Please set your opinion on that) because If you're shopping and have all your gear on you, being killed would make you pretty mad correct? Well now
these ideas might not stick but I do have some more which I'll share later on.. I do plan on finishing up a client I was making in PS for another server I had a while back and using it for this current one.

Wow man that sounds amazing! If there's anything I can do to help you just ask. I don't really work on servers anymore but this seems to have a lot of potential.

Every time my server goes online PK topics sprout like weeds ._.
Some things that you should have in a PK server:
- Antigank
- Balanced economy/leveling system (goes for all servers)
- Easy access to regaining lost items (as in you shouldn't have to work too long on an item you could lose and have to get a new one)(deadly)
- Anti-Spawn (like the "safe-zone" you suggested (usually done with NPC walls))
- A balanced timer on healing spells (don't want people healing faster than others can do damage, do we?)
Some things that you should not have in a PK server:
- Easy/cheap accessibility to health potions (unless you approve of "pot spamming" in PK)
- Attack Spells & AoE (just my opinion)
- Teleportation scrolls (another opinion :P)

Not sure if this is a good way to do it but, these two lines worked for me:
int lvldif = static_cast<int>(this->world->config["LevelDifference"]);
if(from->level <= character->level + lvldif && from->level >= character->level - lvldif)
Place them in the attackPK function.
might also want to add a message if the players blocked:

{
from->StatusMsg("You cannot kill players "+util::to_string(lvldif)+" above or below your level!");
}
}
There's probably much better ways to do this, But atleast thats an idea.
EDIT: forgot to mention, if you use a code similar to this, make sure you add a bool to change from the anti farm to the normal PK.

I didn't want to spend loads of time on it.. and it works fine for me. I also have EXP and item rewards, Also added killstreaks haha!
