Just a quick one. If anyone is thinking about using FireMonkey for anything then.. DON'T! I just pretty much wasted almost the last 3 days writing an app with it only to find it leaks more memory that you can shake a stick and despite the hundreds of already submitted bug reports about memory leaking, Embarcadero seem prefer doing as little as possible as long as they are still selling XE2.

But when you are using a product that retails at just over $4.7k You'd expect bug fixes and decent updates.

Well, rant over. Maybe it's time to switch languages.

(Yes I know DanScott is pretty much the only other Pascal programmer here but I need to rage =P)

Doesn't count as Rage unless you post a rage face. Also you paid $4.7 for a "thingy ma jiggy" that has loads of bugs? Can't you reclaim your cash?

I didn't pay $4.7k XD That's how much a new user licence is. I got mine through work some time ago ;]

I was almost ready just to quit trying to rewrite Kalandra with it's own client.. Who am I kidding. I'll probably just start again using OpenGL =P

I was making a generic MMO - Kalandra II, based on an old project I'd abandoned that already had the server and some client code written but I'm going to abandon the past 3 days work and start again without using the FireMonkey libraries. This time I'll OpenGL. (It's only the client that needs restarting, the server is fine)

Just researched some of your work and I'm very impressed.

All the networking stuff (including the server) and the built in scripting engine are fine. All I need to do really is come up with a new client.

I'll start to write a new game engine using OpenGL and see how it pans out. If I take this project seriously then I'll only have about 4 months to work seriously (semi-full time) on it to get it to the first beta, then I'll have to disappear for a while.

I totally stuck at art (anyone remember 256squared.com? XD) so _IF_ this thing works out then I will be looking for an artist.

So thing is.. Can I write an MMO in 4 months?
