| ![]() that sucks if its shuting down cause i still play test sometimes

| ![]() I doubt any of the admins would have taken the time to make a twitter for a game none of them work on anymore. If they were going to announce this for real, they would do it through a real website. Like. The one they already have... -.- And at least put it in their server news. But I think Vult still makes money for advertising, so I don't think he will be shutting it down just yet. --- class EOSERV { Programmer | Oldbie Open source EO Client: https://github.com/ethanmoffat/EndlessClient };

| ![]() Its clearly fake... Why would Vult-r shut it down anyway? It still pays for itself through the advertising nad he might get a little money himself.
|
| ![]() also if this was real the first place he would post this was endless main site --- opensource isometric game engine ~ www.avac-engine.blogspot.com

| ![]() It's really funny to hear things like this. I asked Vult-r about the Aengie Myspace page one time and he replied "I've never seen it". Interesting, don't you think? If you are ignorant enough to believe announcements you don't hear from Vult-r himself at http://www.endless-online.com then you probably deserve to not know the truth. Currently, you will find Vult-r working on various flash projects ranging from games hosted on his sites, other sites and even within Facebook. The domain endless-online.com will expire soon just like all other registered domains, but don't expect Vult-r to not renew the domain and just close Endless Online. He quite often buys domains just to have the "more popular" domain name. If he does decide to put Endless Online to rest you should expect a formal announcement from Vult-r himself. Also, don't expect a new version of EO anytime soon. Vult-r does want to fix EO, add a good deal more completion, and continue work until he sees fit to cease the project, but the problem is he just simply does not have the time to set aside to work on a hobby when other real projects make him money. And before you ask, no he is not going to turn over his source to anyone.

| ![]() Is it alright if I believe this Twitter feed? I want to believe. Call fake all you want on this one, but the closure of the game is now a matter of when, not if, and if it's not this time then it'll be the next. Whatever small change a game earns from its ad revenue is quickly sucked up by the cost of maintaining the server hardware through the datacenter providing it (and being Layered Technologies, we're talking at least $250 US a month, per server). The game may still be generating ad clicks, but I doubt it's anywhere near what it once was during the game's hey-day and at this stage, regardless of whether it's still earning him cash, it's equally as much a cash drain as it is a source of revenue. That doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of course. Any maintenance time to keep the game running detracts from time spent working on anything else he has in mind. If he's looking to get into Facebook then that's an incredibly popular medium at the moment and one that requires almost constant effort at that. Besides, if you struck it big in the gaming industry on Facebook, some Google Adsense clicks from a discontinued game would be nothing more than a blip on the radar. It would now probably be in his best interests to announce a "switch off" date to permanently shut down the last remaining game servers. At least then he could eliminate the cash drain or at least repurpose the server hardware for something that may actually remain viable (and profitable) in the long term. It would also be in our best interests to be prepared for this to happen. If the primary game servers shut down, don't expect hundreds of former main and test players to suddenly come rushing our way. They expect us to earn their patronage and if we don't provide some key fundamentals (namely support, active development, stimulating gameplay and a unified server model) then it's only too easy for them to take their business elsewhere. Sources? None. I'm taking a guess at what will happen here, but it's one that comes from business experience and i'm fairly confident it's what we'll eventually have to face. Like I said, not if, but when. Thoughts? I don't post these things just to have no replies after. I want to generate some thought here. --- EOSERV.net Academy Of Trolls, Satirists & Sarcastics 5.5 Years Former Site Administrator / Moderation Team / Member (Retired)

| ![]() sblord posted: (30th Aug 2010 09:55 pm) You also have to take into account his other games. From what I've heard, EO was one of Vult's goals in life. If it really is, he's not going to let it die so easily. His other games take up a lot of his time. And you have to consider the money he's making from his other games. In order to maintain all the servers he does, he obviously gets enough cash from his other projects. Last time I checked, the EO domain name was paid for until March of 2013. So the name isn't going to expire for quite a while. Everyone gets caught up in other things. If he shuts it down, he shuts it down. That's all there is to it. There's no point in dwelling on it. If you really enjoy the game and don't want it to be shut down, then just play it for fun. If everyone stops playing EO because they like it, then Vult will shut it down, because if people only play a game to hack it, or cheat to get better than other people, what's the point in keeping it alive? That's how I see it. --- May he now rest under aegis of mirage - As the sands slowly turn to Elysian fields

| ![]() If vult shuts down endless, i can see alot of people spamming his msn saying ur fucked for shutting down endless... Plus i highly doubt theres any other good mmorpgs out there (runescape is messed up so bad) if this does happen i encourage sausage/sordie to buy eo ^^. And if eo does shutdown i bet Fallen evolution will have like 200+ ppl online, then thats going to fuck because fe= the weirdest / bad server i've saw in ages. [color=red] @vult Don't shutdown endless, it will ruin alot of peoples lifes.[/color] @sausage enable BBcode :|

| ![]() Why do you think FE will get 200+ players? most of their players are loyal people that have stuck there for ages, just the same as our players, that doesn't mean that they're gonna get more players just because they have more now. If anything the flock of players would fluctuate immensely for a few months, even the shittiest servers will probably get high traffic. Server advertising will probably come back into fashion and we'll have 'anonymous' players spamming every server / website they can get on. If anything, this would probably be a perfect opportunity to see what real players expect from an RPG, since most of the players eoserv/seose has at the moment are the spoiled ones that have been around whilst servers have been competing reward rates.
And that's just the start of it.. this could either turn out very ugly or very productive. Servers that have low tolerance for bad attitudes sure are gonna get a 'run for their money'. Not that it costs anything. And to be perfectly honest, this is blatantly a hoax. I can still dream right? ^^ --- Web developer, currently looking for graphic artists / designers.

| ![]() If Main server shuts down then it will encourage more players to make their own servers which would result in more Pointless Non-creative/10 minute servers that are already flooding the SLN. To be quite honest, most servers i have been on are mainly just like 5 Custom maps, Exp rate same as main server with like a x5 exp boost. Some random Drops and Crafts that dont make sense. With admins that give stuff for free just to make their few players stay etc... If Main server shuts down, we'll see more of those. Im working on a server with a friend and was actually planing on making it become like a real MMO something that main server failed horribly on but we are going to wait intil we get some C++ Knowledge etc... Although it would be nice to see multiple servers in the 50s+ and would create a fun competitive struggle to be the best. And yes i know theirs still a few servers that are more then what i explained but all of them i played so far doesent give me the MMO feeling. --- Owner of Endless Online Insanity Looking for: 2 Artists Darkrulerjoe

| ![]() I wouldn't count on fortunes working in our favour if the primary Endless Online servers are closed. Not to say we may not see an increase in players on private servers, but a lot of the existing players continue playing the game based on what they already have, be it friends, a vast inventory or large quantities of gold. A closure of the primary servers would eliminate these key factors and ultimately there will be no real incentive for them to continue playing an Endless Online derivative over a large mainstream game like World of Warcraft. Except familiarity. Players that are accustomed to the gameplay and methods of Endless Online may choose to continue playing the game if we can adopt a unified server model. This involves creating a single large server where players can register following a migration from the Main or Test server and continue where they left off. Properly executed this should not cut into our primary private server clients either (eg. As far as the new player is concerned, for example, Fallen Evolution is a different game altogether but built off the same underlying technologies). That aside, back to the topic at hand. Even though the game was one of Vult's goals (or so i've heard), it doesn't seem likely that Endless Online can continue in its current form. If I were to predict the next major move for the game it would lie somewhere between a partial shutdown (the servers remain active but are otherwise hard-reset) or a full shutdown (the servers no longer remain active). Based on the fact the game's brand is tarnished, former players and die-hards have since moved on elsewhere and the in-game economy is virtually beyond repair short of a reset, it may still be more viable for Vult's team to consider closure of the remaining servers by 2011 at the latest and cut their losses and possibly (in the best case scenario) replace them some time after. --- EOSERV.net Academy Of Trolls, Satirists & Sarcastics 5.5 Years Former Site Administrator / Moderation Team / Member (Retired)
