Signs in EMF-files
EDIT: I just saw that the description of this forum also tells me to post topics about maps here, which is confusing. Be more clear to prevent people from posting in the wrong forum. For example, say 'map graphics' in the other description.
EDIT 2: Why do words stick together after editing a post? Does it have to be that hard to post something here?
Sordie locked my other topic in the Artists section (which I don't get at all, because the description clearly states that topics concerning 'maps' go into that section), so I'm trying it again here. Hopefully it doesn't get locked because of me posting it in the wrong
section again (something that I did, apparently).
Note that I know that this forum is for topics about client editing, but since my topic about maps in the forum where topics about maps go got locked, I posted it here.
Now, my question:
Is there a piece of software that already has the possibility to make and/or edit sign flags in EMF-files?
I know Rena found out about it and Apollo made a map to demonstrate it, but I haven't seen any tutorials on how to do this. If it can only be done manually, can someone tell me how?
When I edit maps with signs on it and I save them, the sign flags are gone. Can I prevent map editors from overwriting the whole map file and let them overwrite just the edited bits instead? ---

Re: Signs in EMF-files
I think considering the threads name is "Artists", it would apply to map tile artwork, as it just says "maps" in the description.
"Client editing" has (including map editing) in the description, just to clear that up.
To answer your question, there are no tutorials at the moment :(

Very funny, Plasmastar ;) (no, really!)
Klutz, when I saw the description of the Artist forum I didn't think about reading the other descriptions before posting something, simply because I thought there would be only one section for topics related to maps. When I saw the word 'maps', I thought "Oh, so my topic goes here". But
you're right, if I would've read the other descriptions aswell, I'm sure I would've posted it in the right forum.
Can someone write me a tutorial or explain me how to manually add/edit signs on maps? ---

Re: Signs in EMF-files
To answer these questions lets start with the last one first. The reason your current map editors remove your sign data is that it was previously believed that sign data may have been hard coded into the client. Map editors were designed to "Load" specific known data, and "Save" this same set of
specific data. In other words, the sign data was overlooked when the .emf loaded and thus was treated as if it never existed. When you saved the map, the map editor basically saved everything that it knew was valid map data which in turn removed sign data. The solution: Do not use any currently
released map editor to edit a map that has signs you would like to keep.
The next question, to edit signs. Rena found this was possible using a hex editor. At this point there has been no "official" map editor released that will handle this type of edit. I don't imagine that a release will be too far off for a new map editor, but for now if you don't want to wait for
a sign editor just leave signs alone and don't edit maps with them unless you really want to break them.

Or, maybe someone could give me instructions on how to add/edit signs using a hex editor :P
You made a sign pop up on a custom made map, right? Could you write me a short tutorial? ---

I strongly suggest you be patient enough to wait for the finished map editor. It is not worth the effort of me even looking up the offset and doing a tutorial on. The sign example I created was done via map editor. You probably are not going to see it released until it is finished and the author
is ready to make it public. I have only done some cosmetic on this editor for icons and such. Anyway, that's it for now.

'map editor'? Very inventive.
Why do all these programs have the same name?
I'm wondering when this release could be..
