Thoughts on Chrome OS
Well after a few hours of toying I have realized it is simple. Google thought there horrible open source project was good enough to be a OS. So they packed it into a "linux like" build and will eventually mass produce it.
Has anyone used it? Seriously... what a let down. Web apps, no desktop. It is literally just a browser...
Without ranting to much, I will say start up time is uh practically instant, and it restores your last session. But.. once again ITS A BROWSER.

Personally, I think the Chrome browser's not so good. It lags, sometimes it doesn't close. It doesn't work out to well. I use Firefox, or Opera. Opera's a lot faster than Chrome. You also get some extremely nice layouts for it, too!

Chrome OS is for netbooks. It's great for netbooks but not for workstations. It wouldn't be so good for people that use netbooks as a workstation either.

I really laughed at how Scott thought I was you.
Anyway, yeah, Opera>Chrome browser by far!
Scott, I'm Damis/Defesa, not Microchip.
I've been on the forums as another name for quite some time. ;)

microchip / persus, whatever you go by now.
I'm not talking about chrome as a browser, I'm talking about chrome OS
@ scott, but it was so hyped up :/ I wouldn't even consider putting it on a net book either.

Re: Thoughts on Chrome OS
I originally liked the idea of chromeOS too. I'm not smart enough to get it actually built, but I did get it running in a virtual machine window. So I didn't even get to experience boot time. Just...browser WTF.
I don't like the OS, but I really love the browser. It starts up insanely quick, you can get themes for it to make it look pretty, and it doesn't forget my saved passwords (*cough firefox cough cough*). The only thing bad about it is that it caches web pages and doesn't reload them
properly all the time. I had issues testing out my website on chrome a lot because of this.
Anyways back on topic. ChromeOS, not really that great. Maybe if I ever was going to even think of buying a netbook, I would get it.

ChromeOS is just Linux with a custom version of the chrome browser running as the shell. Don't get to excited. It's not a new operating system or anything =P
Here are some screenshots I finally managed to make after spending most of the day compiling it:

I know but It had so much hype... and I already have / had it installed, that's why i'm so irritated with its outcome.

Modern web browsers can do much more that simply browse the web. For most peoples needs this is all they need. If the operating system is optimized to do this then it makes a lot more sense for "netbooks" or ultra portables. I'm yet to be impressed with ChromeOS though. ---
