First off res-hacker is bad for changing icons. It will not work because EO is compressed you can decompress EO but i will not teach you how to do this because it might not be approved.(this is just an assumption)

I will not post a download to the program because that's illegal but here is a screen shot of me using it.

its called EXEICO you can find it on google(ftw) however in the trial version it stickers something over the icon so you will have to buy it or (h4x it lol i never said that).

Hope this helped since most of you are all wondering or asking questions how to change the EO icon like FE did :D?

Yes falleneo is correct you need to decompress v.28 to change the window title. Then you need to hex edit it to change the name in the task bar with a hex editor.

otherwise use v.27 i won't be handing out the program to decompress v.28 you should find a way yourself on google like i did.

You will also find you can change alot more in the client then just the name like credits, the stats and karma like when you go to the page on eo with stats you can change the GOLD,EXP, STR,WIS to what ever you want with a hex editor you can also change the website which in help menu the forgot password where it goes the main eo site all changeable.

Yes Ele's right, I've managed to change my Icon awhile back using this program the same way Ele did.

Just download PIED. Put the files you want to decompress into it and it tells you what program was used to compress the file. Download that, and use it to decompress it. You can also do that with compressed gfx files and stuff.

Rofl. When i first downloaded the program, it worked, but there was a X over the icon. but when i registered it, i can't choose a icon. it either closes and takes me to a website or it closes...

You will also find that you can modify functionality beyond cosmetics of the client. For instance giving access to all races via the character creation screen. Anyway, it's good to see you finally contributing back to the community that gave birth to F.E. Nice work :P

@Apollo thanks there's probably billions of things you can do by hex editing it i havn't discovered them all yet but i find there will be no need once these new EO clones are out.

@Austinb that's probably because you went to a serial key site and tryed to register it that wont work you will need to download a trial version or buy it.

While what elevations said MIGHT be right, you do not need to decompress to get the Window Title changed, though you might not be able to change it to something longer than "Endless Online". Just use your favorite MemEditor and search for what the current Window Title is. ;)
