meh, there are 3 ps3 models, one doesn't support any backwards compatibility, one supports ps2 and ps1, and one only supports ps1. The latest model is the one that doesn't support any.

I guess if I was you and could only get one [I have both] I would get the 360, because I doubt you know how to mod them, and modded 360's are one of the cheapest modded consoles. If you actually plan on paying for your games, then uh idk go with what your friends have. If there poor and your the only one with a console go with the ps3.

Now, about the 360, on youtube people talk about the 'ring of death' or something.  And they say its because it over heats? is that real?i dont really wanna buy something then have it break a week later.

It's real and I believe they fixed the issue, I had bought one of craigslist that had the ROD and sent it in, without a warranty or anything and they fixed it.

Other notes: If you are waiting for the new 360, keep in mind this is microsofts first attempt in the whole 'motion' scene, look at how long it took Nintendo to get it right. As far as the new consoles go, at E3 they gave everyone in the Microsoft one for free, and tons of them blogged [muhahah I'm a loser I read blogs] that they had some serious issues, [as stated earlier] moving them while they where on, even so slightly was never good.

The RROD was huge issue when the 360 came out first.

It old reallly affects older consoles. And as mute said, they have fixed it now.

Iv had my 360 Elite for about 2 years now with not a single problem.

Also, even if you do manage to get the red ring. Its actually an amazingly simple problem to fix.

What happens is that The Cooling paste on one of the main chips melts. (the overheating people explain it as)

The way to fix this is simply to replace the cooling paste with new paste.

And because of how the console is built, it is extremely simple to disassemble without damaging a single component in order to replace the paste.

The simple disassembly also make it easy to replace broken or damaged parts of the console.

So you could buy one off ebay with some minor problem for a quarter the price of a new console and replace the broken part yourself with ease and save yourself a huge amount of cash.

Lol well, Only the 60gb model plays ps2 & ps1 games 100%, the 80gb plays most ps2 and ps1 games but there has been rumours that a few newer games don't play at all... Sister works at EB Games lol..

Ok here is my responce if anyone knows the Gel 360 has come out which uses KinecT technology which is the type of Wii system but you are the remote and instead of creating an avatar like the wii you KinecT camera detects your clothing and puts it in the game where you are. The Gel 360 comes with 2 remotes, 1 headset, Wireless Connection, 250GB!, (KinecT is 100$ extra). The package total is 300$/400$, and is a really good deal! this new 360 also has been making a new CALL OF DUTY! but is unknown to a release date. 1 war type game will be released soon and you will be the player holding a gun and running around with NO* remote. So look at Xbox.com and see the videos of this new system.

If history teaches us anything it's that new xbox will be made by the lowest bidder in sweat shops and will eventually either just stop working or explode killing your loved ones with oddly coloured plastic shrapnel. Also, after you have paid $500 for it, every other console manufacturer will release a much better product for less and you'll have to convince yourself you did the right thing by flaming other console owners. =P

On a serious note; I still wouldn't "early adopt" the new xbox. I'm not saying it will be bad. Just wait a month or so to see what the public really think and what the developers do with it. It could be awesome. It's up to you if you want to gamble $500 on this.

PS3 has Blue-Ray, Internet, FREE ONLINE GAMING -(unlike X-Box 50$ a year.),

runs very quiet, never crashes games, doesn't scratch your games, etc.

Now I like Microsoft, I guess. But only for their computers. But i'm sick of this "Blue Screen Of Death" "Green Screen Of Death" and now on X-Box, the "Red Ring Of Death?" wow! on PS3 that will never happen!

I prefer PS3.

The xbox 360 can get the Red ring of death...while PS3 only problem was the overheating..but as long as you dont put it in the sun or have it in a cool room your good.

PS3 has better exclusive games.

Metal gear solid
Killzone
Uncharted 2: Among thiefs (won 2009 Game of the year, On X-Play)

While the xbox 360's exclusive games are what?
Gears of war 2 (I think Highly overrated, i like army of two better)
Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 (Can get on PC so not worth it)
Halo (All halo series suck)

Not only that..Now that ps3's price went down its not that much more expensive then a 360. Prob by $100?

What more do you want? Better games, Better graphics, Free online, Better specs.

But i understand if people prefer the 360 because their friends have...Its all about fun i know Lol.

I'd go with an Xbox 360 Slim. Built in Wi fi, ready for kinect (When that comes), 350gb hard drive, more games, you can play xbox games, plays movies, xbox live...If you get xbox live add me @ Benvdog

my ps3 blue ray player went out and i couldnt play any games and it somthing u cant fix i had 2 ps3 and same thing happen to both.
on my xbox i never had prob with it graphics are good and the red ring is very easy to fix so i go with xbox
