Then all of his ports must be open and that's not really safe.
All NO-IP DUC do is keep your domain name set as your IP so if your on a ISP like mine if the router restarts the IP changed but NO-IP DUC notices and updates your NO-IP address :)
You need to definatly open the port you wish to use in order to host. I'm thinking about making a hosting site so people can host on my home server as it's only used as a web server atm and can handle alot more so a few servers and a small upgrade to the system and the troubles of some people
hosting will be no more :)

No, you can use networking tools such as Hamachi

Ok, I'm sure that will work. It does cost tho.

Unless ur friend had a static ip he could of done it without portforward, it seems that if u have a static ip u dont need to portforward anything, apprently the ports open automaticly.
Thats how my ip is setup so i dont have to portforward for anything.

Hamachi uses port 80 (always open because it's a web port. With it closed, you would not be able to search the net) to bypass all firewall/port blocking by creating a virtual network. The downside to this is the fact that everyone who connects needs to have Hamachi installed, running, and inyour
Hamachi network. I use this method for my test server, but definitely not a great idea for a public server with more than a few users.
However, you can't just 'host' a server because you have a static IP. You still need to port forward if you have a firewall or router. Regardless of your network configuration, if you have a brick wall with no exceptions, then users can't connect. You need to still allow connections on a
specific port.

Then your router is setup for plug and play. And obviously you have your firewall disabled, have exceptions, or it just don't work.

Well, I use DUI-No-ip Program. I started using this after my brother told me this will help keeping you port forwarded, it automatically updates as your IP changes, That being said (This program is good for people that have a static IP).
The only thing I ever need to change is my IP from CMD. This very rarely changes every couple months it resets.
But having a static ip is good, cause prevents people that are trying to hack, not able to.
This program is aswell good for people that have a static IP.
