Adding NPC/Monsters to a map {GUIDE}

Post #38521 Adding NPC/Monsters to a map {GUIDE}

This isn't by any means an awesome guide. I'll just let you guys know what I do. It works for me so it should work for you too!

[NOTE: I find it easier to be on the server while doing this. Then once you have gotten your NPC/Monster added into the game you can do the command +mutate and your NPC/Monster will be updated into the map.]

Ingredients:
EO Map Editor alpha 7
{https://eoserv.net/download#tools} {Download the first one}
EO Map Editor alpha 5
{https://eoserv.net/download#tools} {Download the third one}
A already created map
Monster/NPC ID's

Time
Patients

Directions:

  • Open your map up in your map editor alpha 7.
  • Make sure your map has NPC wall tiles to keep your NPC from roaming the whole map.
  • Open your map editor alpha 5.
  • Do File>Open then open the same map you just opened in Map Editor 7.
  • At the bottom you will see a drop down menu that says Select Editor, select NPC Monster Spawn Editor and hit Run
  • A little window should pop up. It should have a few tabs. locX/locY/npcid/param/range/count.
    locX is the X axsis your NPC/Monster will spawn on. (21,59)
    locY is the Y asis your NPC/Monster will spawn on. (21,59)
    npcid is the ID of the monster or NPC
    param is how many seconds it takes to respawn after the monster/NPC has been killed.
    range is how fast the monster will move. You have options 0-7. 0 being crack-head fast and 7 being dead (not moving at all)
    count is how many NPCs/Monsters you want to spawn.
  • Go to your Map in Map Editor alpha 7 and scroll your mouse over where you want the NPC to spawn. In the bottom right hand corner of your map screen, you should see 2 numbers. ?x? (12x86) (1x91) (45x86) Your first number is your X and your second number is your Y.
  • Remember those two numbers and go back to your Map Editor alpha 5 and type in those two numbers under locX and locY. The first number in your coordinates {(12x86)(1x91) (45x86) ?x?} should be your locX. Your second number in your coordinates {(12x86)(1x91)(45x86)?x?} should be your locY.
  • Now, type the ID of your monster/NPC under npcid
  • Then type in how long you want it to take for the NPC/Monster to respawn under param. {An NPC can only be killed by an admin and should probably respawn right away. So in the param type in 2 or 3. It will take 2 or 3 seconds for the NPC to respawn.}
  • Under range, type in how fast you want the NPC/Monster to walk around. {NOTE: You have the choices of 0-7. 0 being really fast and 7 not moving at all.}
  • Finally, under count, type in how many of that NPC/Monster you want to spawn. {NOTE: They will all spawn in your locX, locY.}
    If you want to add multiple NPC/Monsters hit the ADD button and repeat the steps above.
    If you want to remove an NPC/Monster, select the NPC/monster you want to remove and hit the REMOVE button and it will be deleted.
  • Once you have the NPCs/Monsters set and ready to go hit the Update/Save button.
  • Close out of that little window with the locX, locY, npcid, etc. ONLY. Do NOT close out of the whole map editor alpha 5 program. Your changes will not be saved yet.
  • Once you have closed out of the little window, go to your alpha 5 File menu and hit save.
  • And you're done! You should be all set to go with your new NPC/Monster!

[NOTE: I find it easier to be on the server while doing this. Then once you have gotten your NPC/Monster added into the game you can do the command +mutate and your NPC/Monster will be updated into the map.]

Remember its only +mutate for Seose users.

For Eoserv users its $remap :)

Just wanted to point that out.

Post #42041 Re: Adding NPC/Monsters to a map {GUIDE}

Thank you the Param thing kept confusing me for a while but i do have one other problem that keeps happening to me.

I put a priest within a church that i made and it was invisible. There, but unclickable and unseeable. Please help.

Also i cannot spawn monsters for god knows why. NPCs are fine, but not monsters.

I get up to this instruction; I see no drop down menu. Can someone please explain what the problem is or the instruction in more detail? Or maybe with a screenshot?
