I have tried setting the backpack GFX in every possible slot, and no matter what, even if I edit pubs, it appears at feet.

The shield and wings gfx are hardcoded. You have to replace those gfx with the same type.

I wonder why the fag hard coded something like this maybe because he was sure that his weak protection would result in an emulator someday.

I have just had this random thought ,what if versions older than 28 did not have these hard coded restrictions.

Older revisions are the same. Rather than adding a few more lines in code to read the data file and assign an item type to shields, he took the lazy way out and hard-coded it. Gets more fun when dealing with special hat types and NPC's.
