Sorry everyone it is going to be a few more day's till i release v1.0. Due to me getting side tracked and getting carried away with working on Aveon. However in my opinion the wait will be worth it. Sorry everyone for the inconvenience.

Here is a pic of the great city Aveon currently under construction.

Looks nothing like EO. If this is how far you are going to stretch it, I'd rather play Runescape and/or other similar games.

It isn't finished yet. And there is going to be differences in it due to it all being 3d and also Endless Online Reborn is a few hundred years in the future from the original time frame of the original Endless Online. I am not allowed to make a exact duplicate of the game due to copy right laws.

And yet it can still look like the original game.....There are games like Fiesta/Tales of Pirates which are a lot more closely resembling to EO than graphics like AoE.

Yes and to do that you use what is call shaders the picture shows my hirachi and not a camera view. And the proper shaders have not been added in yet. Like i said before it is not finished. When it is finished the shaders and everything will be added in. I will be using a cartoon camera filter to give it the look you are talking about.

Do you need help with anything? I'm probably not as proficient with C# as you are but I could do what I can, or really anything else with it if you would want the extra help.

The EO universe has no "Time Frame". It exists without time in any historic sense. We have factories run by hovering robots and people in chain mail slaying dragons with bows and arrows. If you want to be like EO the first thing you have to do is forget about this time frame nonsense. =P

The thing that removes the EO feel from this isn't the fact that it's 3D, it's the textures. Get the textures right and it would look less generic 3D game and more EO.

And (if you wanted to) you could even give the players the option to turn off perspective and move the camera to an isometric view point and it would look very similar to our beloved game.

Here's yet another one of my many abandoned projects that demonstrates this. Nothing but the camera matrix changes in this when you turn isometric on, it's rendered with the same pipeline.

EDIT: And as far as the copyright issue. I wouldn't worry too much. Vult basically ripped offcopied Dark Ages anyway. =P Don't use any of his assets and you'll be fine.

I remember seeing that image pop up every once in awhile, didn't realize that was your idea Sordie.

And you pretty much said what I wanted to say but better.

Post #199429 Re: New Endless Online Game

Sordie what i meant by the advance in the future was this. The towns have evolved somewhat. And new areas have been discovered. I am recreating the old areas so that way they can be found easily by anyone who ever played Endless Online however their will be new areas also. So i placed EO at a time frame withen itself and i asked myself how would EO evolved if it traveled so many years in the future. And this is what i am basing EoReborn from. I am just trying to give a new twist to things that is all. Even though EO didn't have really a story line when i played i always created my own storyline's to it. And the storyline that i created for the original story line was that EO had was being attacked by baddies and we grew up to become great legends who protected the kingdom. When EO got shut down i wrote a ending to it. And the kingdom was saved by all of us. Well with EoReborn i am actually creating a story to it. The baddies have come again. And now EO is calling us back. However this is not the complete story and in the days to come everyone will be able to find the story on eoreborn.com. I have plan's of doing a small story for the game along with maybe doing a small animated series for it as well in the future. And also with the pics you showed that is what is created using sprites. And i am not trying to use sprites instead i am using actual 3d models. That is why i said i am doing the game in actual 3d not 2d isometric or 3d isometric.

The pics I posted where not created using sprites. They are both the exact same 3D mesh rendered using the exact same OpenGL rendering pipeline. The ONLY difference is the camera matrix. The first view is rendered using perspective projection (the same as your game), the second with orthographic projection. It looks like a typical 2.5D isometric game but the scene and objects within it are all still rendered in 3D so you can freely rotate to any angle. I'm just saying this would allow you to have an EO "feel" but with the freedom of 3D. Just an idea.

If you do decide to give it a try, here is the information you'll need for calculating your camera matrix:
Orthographic projection, wiki
Isometric projection, wiki

I'm even tempted to make some quick Aeven house models and textures just to see how it would look. =P

Yes but i am not trying to do this game like that block games got played out in my opinion when Minecraft came out. I am sorry but that is not the vision i have for Endless Online reborn. I will be using cartoon shaders on everything along with a manga filter for the camera. To give everything a cartoonish type feel to the game. simular to what the original EO had if someone is interested in doing that type of style Endless Online remake they are free too. However that is not the vision i had of the game when i came up with the idea to do it. As a update however on Endless Online Reborn i have been working on a few new features such as a achievement system. I had to scratch alot of the original coding due to alot of things that i found wrong with it while in the process of coding certain things in. 1 of the things i was unhappy about was that the way the original programmer did the inventory system made it where i was not able to add in a paper doll system and this is 1 of the things i was wanting to do. However now it is being added in. Another thing that i was not happy about as well was the fact that he also made it where you couldn't earn the skill's as well. With scratching out that part of the coding i am now adding in a system that allows me to do this. The system that i am basing some of my coding from goes too Dextero.

I still don't think you quite understand what I'm suggesting. I said nothing about making it block based. Ignore what those screenshots are rendering and look at the difference in perspective between them. The second one has no perspective. ie. it's orthographic.

Not saying ther eis a time frame in eo.. but there COULD be. going to use Skyrim as an example. In the skyrim series there's this old civilization known as the dwemor (dwarves) that disappeared and left behind highly advanced technology like floating steam ships, mechanic monsters, ancient magical artifacts and weapons.. basically the ''steampunk'' of skyrim.

The factory of eo could be its dwemor :P .

Like you said though.. I really doubt there's an actual time line rather than just random shit xD
