| ![]() If that is your first time, and actually your own work, I'd say you did a great job (for a first attempt). You definitely need to work on it, but the basic concept is there. Just need to brush up on your techniques, and make things blend together a little bit better, so it doesn't look so out of place at certain areas. Good job though. :) Edit- I think the first version looks much better. The colours chose for the second do not work well together. The cape looks fairly awkward also with the second attempt. --- EO Resources/Guides: â—„ eobud.boards.net â–º

| ![]() Yeah it's my own work, i used an old guide Roefl made for the first frame and ive been working off what i made for the other frames. My biggest worry at the moment is pixels blinking when moving and how the hell i'm going to do the cape when sat down. If anyone can get me a screenshot of their
toon seated with armour that has a cape that'd be awesome! Thanks for the feedback, i think i'm gonna stick with the red though, i'm liking how it's looking and i feel there are more items that would make sense for crafting ingredients, like dragon wings/mummy bandages etc http://prntscr.com/8hx63h

| ![]() Oh lord. Using Roefl's tutorial? His tutorial is a pretty good reference. I'd search the artist section of the forum and try to find Stava's pixel guide. He has a few laying around. Definitely should find that. Anyhow, the armor isn't that bad at all. The only thing that I wanna say is it that it looks like you just kind of copied the style of shading. You should explore your own style and build from that. A lot of artists on the forums have their own style. Some of them could be improved, and others
are pretty damn good. Practice makes perfect. Don't feel bad though, I did the same thing when I started out way long ago. Just keep working at it, man! :) --- You're all fags.

| ![]() Fuzzy posted: (19th Sep 2015, 12:02 am)Hey no worries, it's only an opinion. I didn't mean the second colour scheme + overall appearance looked bad by the way, I just think you have to make the colours fit together better, and make it look more realistic at parts, with proper shading and colour tones. You've done very well for a first attempt! Armors are definitely the hardest/ biggest time consumer, (aside from npc's). It honestly partly depends on your skill level, and ease with certain techniques that determines how long it will take. I remember when I first started, armors took VERY long, and as I got (only slightly better) lol, it became much faster and easier to work with. It's still a slow process irregardless though, especially when a ton of detail is put into something! Keep up the effort! --- EO Resources/Guides: â—„ eobud.boards.net â–º

Glad I was able to get you interested in this kind of art. I've circled the problem areas I'm seeing. Try to consider the sprite in 3 dimensions, even though it's 2 dimensional. It lives in isometric space, and you have this diagonal angle concept down, but it's a little bit more than that. This is the isometric section from Pixelsource - I think the guidelines might be helpful for you. --- Want to learn to pixel? Pixelsource.org

| ![]() Looks great for a first pixel. I'm too embararassed to even mention my first/last attempt xD
|
| ![]() Hi there! Very nice work you got here, but as pointed out above there are some slight mistakes in regards to isometric viewpoints and your shading is off too. I made my own version, of your update to show you how you can/could have structured it. I hope you don't mind! Note: It's rushed, so it's not as clean or great as I'd want it to be. ![]() Now, your only real problem (that I could pick out) was your color choice. It's not saturated enough. My saturation ranges around the center of this scale: ![]() Whereas yours, ranges more towards the right: ![]() There's nothing wrong with this! It just tends to look better and the shading is easier to do when your color choice is spread across your saturation scale better. Your shading on the metal is perfect, however. You have the right idea - metal gets shiny when light hits it. That's what you've done: ![]() This is excellent, just your shine is placed in the wrong part of the shoulderpiece. Now, your shape is also off. Take a look at the figure of both my armor and yours, and notice the difference: ![]() Don't worry about it. It's not necessary to keep to the shape, but it does make your armor/outfit look more appealing. EOs sprite is difficult to use as a template because it's incorrect in terms of isometric shape. That's why I edited mine, to make it easier to stick to an iso shape. I recommend you do the same. ![]() Now, the shape is easier to understand. You get a clearer view of what the sprite actually looks like, and realize it's not actually fat. Here's a little guide to show you where's where: ![]() That right arm is difficult to see on EOs sprite, that's why making fixes to it is always helpful. A very important thing to remember when making metal, is that metal does not contort. This means you will have to create a way for the sprite to be able to bend over and move, which is why different plates are necessary (as you can see I put in the arms, legs and chest). Very nice attempt overall, especially since it's your first time! I'm very impressed. A lot better than I was when I first started. Keep up the good work! Edit: Here's a sitting view of an armor I made for BU a little bit ago. You said you wanted one for a cape? ![]() --- "Nurd, you're like a fucking swiss army knife" - Necrosis
