And I struggle to believe that because it should just be a matter of a try { SLNCheckIn(); } catch { DoNothing(); } Obviously they're not actual functions in EOSERV before anyone starts being all like ;o that's not in teh sourz codez. Re: Endless Edge
| If the EOserv SLN is attacked, it can't connect to any servers. As a result, it shows all servers as being offline, although they may actually be online.

Re: Endless Edge
| In errors log > SLN check-in failed: negative HTTP response. or > SLN check-in failed: HTTP request timed out. With no crash or the server would crash every 5 min on SLN check in? Possibly there is an issue with an accumulation of negatives or time outs. --- Host of a blacklisted server...

| Lol cyanide. You're a joke bro. You tell me to get a life but you were still mentioning my name in your pathetic argument with esf. I wasn`t even online anymore. Anyway, I never said the attacks was fun, nor did I say I cause them. There goes your stupidity again. You're a hypocrite for bashing us for arguing when you started to argue with the dude yourself. You tell me to get a life but you were still mentioning my name in your pathetic argument with esf. - I didn't mention you by name once, what I did state was you guys think this is like school where everyone cares. I wasn`t even online anymore. -That's the plus about a forum system you don't have to be online. Anyway, I never said the attacks was fun, nor did I say I cause them. -Never said you did? What I said you guys find fun is calling each other names/liars/and bitching on the forums. There goes your stupidity again. -How so? Because you claimed I said things I never said? Gg I guess.. You're a hypocrite for bashing us for arguing when you started to argue with the dude yourself. Wasn't really arguing, but I see where you are coming from. Re: Endless Edge
| The theory that crashing all the servers when the SLN goes down is bogus. It may apply to servers that are still using obsolete versions of EOSERV, but that simply won't take down the entire lot of servers. EE's server was returning 402 connection timeouts during the attack on all servers. Now what these skids might think is that when eoserv.net is attacked the servers all crash. What happens is the SLN shows all of the servers offline. I think they were hoping for a different result. Maybe this effects older servers. You can easily disprove this by starting EOSERV and letting it connect to SLN once, then unplug the ethernet from your PC.

Re: Endless Edge
| I definitely remember EOSERV crashing in a lot of ways related to SLN. Before it was moved to a separate thread, eoserv.net being laggy but not offline would definitely stall the servers while they waited, and I'm sure there was a case where it tripped over itself. I remember the crashing well enough that I apparently tried to re-fix it (http://files.eoserv.net/patches/r384.diff), but upon investigating, the first change in that file is literally useless, and the second covers a rare crash where EOSERV fails to bind to a free private range TCP port 10 times in a row (0.17% chance of it happening on a given day even if 30% of the ports of your system are in use: about 20,000 connections). Unfortunately I can't stop old servers who are using old implementations from trying to connect (there are 3 out of 38 reporting themselves as pre-r256 EOSERV, as well as FE). I'd recommend those 3 servers turn off the SLN client in EOSERV and instead run a separate program such as: <?php |
