Made this giant octo for The Mana World, practicing non-iso pixeling..



Inspired me to make another piece, which would have a whole different style but it's the same monster kind I guess..

When I look at way better artists, it only reminds me how much more effort I should put to become as good as them, better artists are just proof how good you can get..

great work as usual man.always good to keep fresh on things. ive found  top down is kind of constraining compared to isometric work. what are your views on this?alsoThe Mana World needs talented pixel artists they're standard graphics look so generic lol not a bad engine for being 2-D top down though.

@Xlembros.. well it depends really, in some things top down beats iso, for a example on top down you can have working stairs, while on iso you can't make perfect stairs.. Top down is actually harder to make than Iso, since Iso angle is really defined with the base lines that like the tiles go with 2pixels connecting to a line.. On top down you need to have better knowledge of perspective I guess.

Some of my favorite Rpgs are top down, but I've started pixeling basing my work on EO which is ISO so I'm more familiar with iso and I prefer it..

actually stairs would work fine in isometric if programmed into the game client. seeing as i started out doing top down graphics for the Eclipse community i do have a feel for both worlds so to speak. top down can be done beautifully but in allot of ways creates allot more work for the graphic artist especially when you get into 8 directional character movement with out sprite mirroring. also i agree its a matter of perspective and being able to envision and create things in different media formats. and yeah i can mention a long list of epic RPG's from the NES Snes and PS1 days that were done in top down perspective and just are spectacular and lush to look at and have enjoyable game play that you can go back to time and again and still enjoy

not a tutorial  but i have worked on graphics live lol.i find im not that great of a teacher i get easily side tracked and from what ive been told i have an infuriating way of assuming what i do is easy for everyone else to duplicate.

Ah :/ . Guess I'm not meant to pixel then xP. how i pixel is pathetic and i've been working at it for 3 years. I'm really into art but i suck at it if it's drawing, pixeling, sculpting etc >.<. Pisses me off how hard i try and never get anywhere :p

ive said this to many people Art is a constant learning experience ive been pixeling for a very long time and doing digital art for just about as long and before that i did traditional work.i wasn't always as good as i am now and personally i have artists in both the pixel art field and digital art field i look up to and wish i could be like they were to. it's taken A LOT of practice hard work and try try again till i got things. im telling you not to give up on Art in any form keep trying take inspiration from people don't look down on your self or your abilities.

 now back on Topic @ Stava if you worked on a Mana Game it would be epic
