It's not EORelated or anything but i'm curious if how will a programmer find out what program used in creating a .DAT file without asking the person who made it?

Simply put it like this way, do you know any DAT file program identifier?

.DAT is short for Data file and really can be in any encoding/format - which means it's effectively impossible to find a program to open any .DAT file.

 I.E Age Of Empires .DAT files are entirely different and encoded differently to EOR's .DAT files. The best you can do is try and find it's compression algorithm by reverse engineering the client and write your own .DAT file reader for your own specific purposes. If you're lucky the .DAT file could be compressed under a general compression algorithm and easily extractable - I.E Maple story's .wz file compression.

i use .dat in my projects and it is just a .zip :P just a way to hide All the filed and compress at the samr time. eorry for sprlliny mistakrs my phonr hates eoserv.
