Re: Sigh...
I remember there being a topic about how it didn't matter if people used your artwork, and that you should feel privileged that it's getting publicity :P Hypocrites everywhere :B
EDIT: Dang, Stava beat me to calling people hypocrites :P ---

Compressing wont do anything because the client still has to access them. You can decompress them with a decompressor or you can just easily write a program to load the PE resources and just write them to an image file. Hence EOGFX.
People really shouldn't steal work though, its just pathetic.
Wrong, the "hackshield" on FE's gfx files stops programs like EOGFX from being allowed to access the GFX files or any others like it, you'd actually need to know what system im using to stop it before you would actually get anywhere, i dont even think plasmastar has worked that one out yet.
@itsandrew once again the FE hackshield stops eogfx and other decompressors that try to do the same thing, its compiled with the GFX files so soon as they are loaded the code is executed. ---

Re: Sigh...
this is why we need a new client with options for better means to encrypt or hide graphics in clever ways.aside from a hand full of very clever very determined individuals in the comunity if more modern means of graphics protection was implemented this kind of lazy selfish art vandalizing would
either dwindle down to nothing or stop completely.
art thievery isn't a new thing in this community either.its the simplest and easiest thing to take from another server because basicly most any half wit with reshacker or some other resource editor can take them.not to mention applications various members of the community have made that make
ripping graphics easier.
believe me i know how you feel Hiuru and it is disconcerting to have something you worked hard on for one project being hijacked and used with out so much as a credit or asking for permission or any acknowledgement.

Isn't this hypocrisy?
We're all using Vult-rs and Arvids work without permission (stealing), and we complain about others stealing our work..
I never gave a fk if people steal my gfx.. It's not about the gfx.. If your game sucks, it sucks, gfx isn't gonna change anything.. And do you think these kids who steal your gfx can compete with you just because they have your gfx? I doubt it. It's obvious how unprofessional they are. Just let
the kids have fun with their servers, it's not like they will ever challenge the original.
Even if the server grows more popular than yours (chances are so low), it's your work being used, so you can see plenty of people enjoying your work :)
Don't stress, it's just a hobby :)
It's not really hypocrisy as it's just expected to use the original game's artwork for a private server of such.
It's completely different, imo, to take other's work and claim it as theirs. I mean, we all use Arvid's pixels and whatnot but we never claim it as ours, obviously, and so it's just natural for us because we're dealing with a emulator of the game.
And honestly idk why you don't give a f*ck, like Xlembros said it's really disconcerting to have these guys just take stuff AS you make it for their gain without you knowing. ---

Them saying how they made the stuff is really immature, like when I was a kid I would take my brothers toy and say it's mine.. So why care about it? They can say what they want, if they said they were Vult-r it wouldn't make them Vult-r.. So why pay attention to it..
It's just a bunch of kids wanting to have their own server they can enjoy, and EOServ doesn't supply them with enough free graphics so they go around stealing.. They don't get more than 4 members on their servers, which are probably their irl family or friends..
And you are really popular on EOServ, FE and AO are one of most played servers, I don't think there's a EO player who hasn't been on FE or AO (Apart from the EO main idiots who think they'll get hacked if they join a server).. All the players who have played FE or AO will recognize your work on
any other server they see it on, since your style is so different than anyone else around here (Except for Megamoogle, but he's been kinda away).. They might not be like "Oh these are graphics Hiuru made" but they will definitely think like "Oh these are graphics from FE or AO"
And I don't give a f*ck because if Private servers are third party, then the people stealing from the Private servers are fourth party.. Vult-r doesn't give a f*ck about Private servers and he made everything, so why would I give a f*ck about people stealing from my Private server..

Im talking about compression, not your little dlls. And even then there is still a work around for your "hackshield". ---

Re: Sigh...
People taking other peoples work is pathetic, I know from experience that if you work ultra hard on graphics/ or pixels to make your game stand out and someone goes and takes them - boy is it frustrating, I've already ensured that this won't happen to The
Ascent.
Serves who glorify off others work because they're to lazy or aren't skilled enough to create their own don't deserve a player-base at all.
Rant over.

Well theres always a work around for anything thats open, of course it will just take alot more time and is less likely that anyone will figure it out
a great example of this is cascades EOR GFX files which still no one has managed to broken into, While it is possible, no one has figured it out yet. ---
