Id have to say i liked how this community was troll free, and mostly everyone got along; and helped each other. Also i liked it better when the staff dealt with the trouble makers back then, nowadays they get away with it too much.

Re: With EOSERV for 4+ years
I originally lurked an old eohax.us.to site until it got suspended, and eventually joined EOHax until there was an announcement about this site. I've moved on from Endless Online to another game.
Still visiting this place from time-to-time. Alas, I kind of regret not getting involved when I had the chance.
I thank EOHax & EOServ for the interesting content, and for leading me into programming.
Anyways, it doesn't look so bad from the outside. There will always be possibilities to work towards bigger projects. I think it's feasible to expand without leaving EO too much behind.

EndlessOnline is like a boat. It's a badly constructed boat but it was OUR boat and we loved it! We loved it so much that when it started to take on water we just ignored it and held on tighter. Yes, it was a very slow sinking but we refused to jump ship. Now we're all ghosts haunting our
sunken boat. Never letting go. Never moving on. Desperate for one last dance on out beloved boat.

Re: With EOSERV for 4+ years
Always takes a thread like this to bring the oldies (by tenure, not by age, o'course) out of the woodwork, doesn't it?
It's a shame our ship had to sink, but they were fierce seas, and we fought bravely against the odds to no avail. A few of us may have made it out on the lifeboats, returning later to find nay but a few pieces of driftwood, remnants of what once was.
Perhaps one day, we shall build a new ship, not with the foundations of our old one, but its few salvageable pieces will surely comprise the figurehead that will gracefully adorn its bow, a homage to the past, but looking onwards to wherever the seas may carry us.
Or, you know, something along those lines.

I agree,
these closed revisions are the main reason why eoserv isn't improving.....
People that got knowledge should release stuff that might attract server owners to use the open source.
edit: its weird .... why should i get a -1 if i am only agreeing with the original topic owner ---
Remember when is not an organization nor a fucking group , it's simply an idea that we believe in
and live for.
The priority of Remember when should come before oxygen , as oxygen is cosmetic even life itself is
cosmetic, that's why offer our worthless lives to The "Remember when"

Closed revisions? These are the reason more people can make a server. if you can code you don't need them, if you can't you do. That simple.

Because of how you stated it.
But I agree, the community would be a lot better if people would share code like they did for the brief time in the past. . ---

People are becoming lazy and using eosource instead of coding their own revision. Servers are starting to become less creative as they all have the same features.

Re: With EOSERV for 4+ years
I totally disagree. I don't think people are becoming lazy. Anyone that has been around for a good time with the EOSERV project have not only learned some basic coding, but have moved on to become more proficient programmers. I had experience with Basic, QBasic, HTML, and just had been making experimental programs with MS Visual Studio in C and Java (back when Java was included with the software, ancient times). C++ was easy enough to understand, and Sausage made EOSERV very easy to learn from. I can say with confidence that anyone that has taken the time to learn probably enjoys programming, but those that just want to live with "idk how to write codez" will probably be content with a closed source. I really don't think anyone has become "lazy", but more likely they were lazy to begin with.

Re: With EOSERV for 4+ years
EO is like a doorstop to some's lives, and an opening to others, to help them realise hobbies, teach them new things.
Some people are stuck, trying to make an amazing server by stealing GFX, etc, and other are learning a new language in programming or getting introduced to it.
It's how you look at it I guess, but this boat has been going for a long time.. ---
