All the "Original EO" servers? I mean, yea, main was fun but there's reasons no one plays it anymore. It got stale. Also, people making servers, and the only thing they change is exp rate. Or edit the one starter map. Many of the "original" servers lack creativity. It seems like a lot of little kids have figure out that they can be an admin if they make their own server. If anyone else is like me, they make an account, create a character and see the spawn room for newbland and just go "nope" and log off.

Biggest issue with original based Eo private servers is there are so many and to make one is Childs-play.Its infuriating when servers like BU,EE,EA,FE etc.Also not to blow my own trumpet but Mine and Clouds server http://aeonia.enjin.com/ are all unique in their own right and either are losing players or not receiving players in the volumes these carbon copies receive! (even EE has new items and a few new maps to explore and excellently moderated).

If people continue to just do carbon copies it does affect the good servers populations because 6 people here, 3 people there and  9 people pking in a EO copy thats just EO but the owner has put pk mode on. These all take numbers away from more accomplished servers.The tendency of EO copies are usually run by untalented and unimaginative people(no offense to anyone),Anyway I think people should look for more varied game play and originality from the private servers they are playing. 

Anyway thanks for this thread its a good way for the eoserv community to vent some steam and make it clear most(I hope at least) people want varied and unique servers.

It's not the matter of "hey I can be an admin if I make an eoserver". For some server owners it's approximately yes, but for some owners with passion, I don't think that the "adminship" is on their mind. Server owners learn new things from making a server. As for example, an owner programmer, which he/she applies his/her programming ability on his/her server and create new features that the main didn't offer which came out from his/her mind's creativity and learn new things out of it. Also with an owner artist, which he/she applies his/her art ability on his/her server and create various graphics that the main didn't have which came out from his/her mind's creativity and learn new things out of it. Both of them didn't think of the "adminship" you are saying but the ability they're applying and improving from it. Just look on FE,BU, and EE they might be an eoserver, but players are still embracing the server and play on it, due to they notice the passion of the owner who is running it. Not literally that they would notice it, but the feature, graphics and gameplay that the server has to offer which passed their requirement to play and use their time.

Fun fun. Oh you mentioned carbon copies having all the players, what 9? 9 players on "another eo server" gives you some kind of right to slate the owners? Would you want players on your server that only want to play original pk? I mean, good job to the owner for giving them something they obviously enjoy. If you can't give them that, or for some reason they don't find yours as appealing, it's nobody else's fault. :/

Players go where they want dude. I have no real issue with you but you mentioned owners being untalented or unimaginative and I think that's illogical because they're in their own rights to have a server about anything they want and host as many players as it pleases them, as well as players having their own rights to play anything that pleases them too. You should focus on your own work if you want to get more players, or make something appealing and advertise it.

I feel like some of you misinderstood me. I'm not even sure why FE, BU and EE were mentioned, as they are creative, original servers.

What I meant was people literally setting up a server exactly like main and jacking the exp. Not even player stats, or item stats. Or like they'll changed the ground tiles of Aeven and that's it. 

"Great EO", "Shadowlands" and "FUCK YEAH JOIN" are all exactly the same in my opinion.

Well, that's different then. I appreciate that some people want to build off of EO Main, I mean hell, I've thought about it once or twice. But unique servers are just so much better, and custom clients allow for so much more to be done.

Sorry to go slightly off topic, you are quite right about EO clone servers, one of the comments caught my eye and I feel I should express my opinion about this subject as it is not a new thing nor has it been addressed properly.

Why do people still think players are theirs? And why do people still only advertise to each other?

Advertise your server to the world and gain some "New to EO" players instead of squabbling / ddosing each other in hope to gain a few players to your server from another EO server?

This is beyond me, use your intellect and recruit your new players from outside the EO community.

Reasons for this:

1) You will have unique users looking for a new game to play, players that don't server surf as much.

2) You will grow a community of players looking to play your game, rather than beg for items, ask for admins etc.

3) If all the server owners did this they would stop bickering over players.

4) If all the server owners did this the entire EO community would grow.

5) you will become known in the wider world, rather than by the SLN.

Think of more there is loads...

Being creative or unique alone doesn't grant you rights to players, players do as they feel fit, they come and go as they like.

Advertising campaigns are what people should be spending their time on if they want their servers to grow.

I'm currently in the process of having my server advertised on a mmorpg listings website too.Finally I have been trying to promote my server and site on facebook but replies are still few. If anyone has any suggestions as to where else to advertise please comment on this thread or pm or skype xeph.12

Step 1. Set up your own custom website (not a freewebs lump of shit), use proper meta tags and setup a descriptive and informative homepage about your product (tip many keywords in meta and homepage header1 (H1)). 

Step 2. Register your site with google webmaster account, setup a google spider/crawler from there and a site map.

With those things you should have at least 100% better advertisement. This shit should be mandatory for anyone wishing to promote anything they have.

The firt step has already been done. I haven't heard of that process with google is it free or charged?
