Hello everyone, I was just wondering why my internet is so bad lately. I contacted my ISP and they basically just said turn your modem off then on, if it don't work then your fucked we're not helping you. This started yesterday I was playing EO and after about an hour my ping was up to 1-10k all day and same today. My internet isn't even that bad it seems it's just on Xbox or any online games. It's fine for streaming the internet. The weather here is pretty bad today and yesterday but I honestly don't know if that has anything to do with it. I really need help I've search everywhere and I get all these shitty guides, if someone knows a solution please reply!

Edit: Is it possible my computer could have something to do with it? I'm using a shitty old laptop with windows 7 since my gaming desktop is getting tuned up.

It could be anything from the cable (Modern to Phone) ADSL Filter (If you have one) modern needs updating. I had a problem like this but i resolved it with a new ADSL filter and Cable but was told by my ISP that my modern has failed so try the cheap stuff first. Also you PC shouldn't be causing this unless some dude is DDOSing you check your logs to see.

Thanks for the help guys I'll see if any of this helps. :P

Could also be that you have background programs running that might not show up on your start bar. Doesn't hurt to check your task manager, sometimes on my old computers I find programs taking up all the CPU. Only suggesting this because you said Xbox is fine. Nevermind, misread your post.

Mind doing a ping test and posting a copy here? I would like to see if you're getting any packet loss etc.

Your ping is pretty good anything upto 65ish is good but 70ms+ can be a problem (Laggy games etc)

Yea I did the test after and got 76 but I'm kind of starting to think that there is moisture in the lines and it's just causing my internet to slow down. It's been really stormy here lately.

I'd blame the weather.

I had the exact same problem maybe 2 days ago, I restarted my modem and all worked fine again. ( I didn't contact my ISP, fucking bastards ask 0.10c every minute! As if I'm not paying enough for the over-all internet)

Just wait till the weather is alright and if that didn't help, I'd check your cables, logs, etc.
