DOTA 2 is the superior game considering DOTA is the original and what created the genre. LoL is a DOTA clone. Nothing you say can change that.

Technically Dota is a custom mod of Warcraft 3. Dota 2 became it's own game however.

Saying LoL is a clone of Dota is like saying Rift is a clone of WoW. Same genre, same concepts, just made different ways. If people play it then who cares what it is similar to.

I don't like the genre at all myself but you can say LoL is a clone of DOTA when DOTA was the first and created the genre in the first place. Yes the first DOTA was a mod and then later became a stand alone game as DOTA 2. But so was Counter Strike and look where that is now.

Look. I have played Dota, HoN, LoL, and Dota 2. I honestly feel like LoL has advanced the original concept of the game into something so much more. Their business model is well-thought out (and it works, evidenced by the success of the game worldwide. info graphic here), the game appeals to both the casual gamer and the hardcore, and it's just plain fun. I will not go as far as to say that I am 100% right. I just like LoL more than the others, and that is subject to change. All of the games are great and worth playing, but I just feel like LoL changed enough things in the right way to make it the better game. No hate dude.

I love both Dota 2 and LoL.

I like LoL because it's easier and takes less time to play. I like Dota 2 because it's a challenge and is just pretty badass.
