I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section. I was going to post it in advertisements, but I wouldn't really consider it to be advertising really. If a mod thinks it's in the wrong section then go ahead and move it, my bad. This was originally posted by me on the QS forum. Edited it a bit to fit this setting.

Last weekend, as I'm sure most of you know, someone managed to get a hold of the QS database. I'd like to explain what happened, since you as the community and players deserve to have your information secure.

So here's what happened: Someone tricked Boook in allowing him to access the VPS through teamviewer. Once this person was on the VPS, he planted a RAT (Remote Administration Software) on it. For those of you who don't know what this does, it's essentially something that lets you control the person's computer (or in this case a VPS) and basically do whatever you want with it. So with this RAT on the VPS, he stole the database.

I'd like to assure you all that all your passwords are safe unless you logged into his "QS-BACKUP" server.

Basically what he did was put the database he stole into his own server, where he has a command that retrieves player's usernames and passwords when they log in. If you didn't log into this server then you are safe. The database passwords are SHA-512 (I think that's what it's called, correct me if I'm wrong) encrypted, so it would take months, if not years, to solve a password for just one player.

Also, if you did log in to the "QS-Backup" server, everything you did while on there will not carry over to the real QS game.

QS-Quest is safe to play once again, just make sure you are using the right IP to connect: qs-quest.no-ip.org
