so i set respawn point to say x 5, y 5 but it respawns me on the blank map. does anyone know how to get correct co-ords from an exact tile on a map?

Open the map in map editor and hover your mouse over that tile. It will say the coordinates at the bottom.

You edited the wrong section. Its not a problem with the map editor.

You can use the map editor, or in-game you can type #loc and get your coords and map ID.
