Is there any way to make a mp3 music file actually play on the client?

Does it have to be a midi sequence?

Is there any good way to convert this mp3 file to a midi sequence?

You can't convert MP3 to MIDI... Well let me be more specific. There are programs that can attempt to create MIDI from an MP3 source, but you can't realistically expect anything decent from such a process. In other words, MP3 is a real audio recording, MIDI is just data instructing your sound card to play simulated instruments. Two totally different things. On the bright side, there are literally thousands of MIDIs on the internet and a good deal of them are in public domain.
