Here is an example of changing perspctive. A theme for a private server. ( i'll keep this as short as I can:)

Crashed on an alien planet like pitch black (the movie)- The game begins with the player spawning in a space ship. Use factory maps to make it look mechanical, or pixal yourself original spaceship lookin maps to use. The player only has access to a small part of the ship. They will
need gear and a weapon of course. Let them obtain it from a chest. Put some npc's in here as well. Potion sales, and a crafting npc. Also, a npc who tells the player "we crash landed on this strange planet. Go out and look around". Next to this npc put a portal. This is the only way in and
out of the ship. It leads to the outer world, and is always open for the player to use. Have another NPC say, "we managed to open a portal we can use to get out. The hatch was damaged in the crash".
This way, you dont have to show the outside of the ship. The portal just warps the player to a beginner area of the game, or back into the ship. Of course, if your talented, you could make a map of the outside of a space ship were the player warps to outside the ship. Either way, the
player is now on the alien world, all alone.
Have all npc monsters agressive, but NO animals! its a alien world, and give the player aoe. Of course, make the monsters slow at the start, then get faster as the player gets stronger, and gets better aoe weapons. For weapons and armor, only use tech lookin stuff. Use lightsaber, energy
blade, or pixal a laser pistol if you can. Armor could be anything that dosent look med-evil. We're lookin for tech advanced stuff. They got here in a space ship, remember?
Now, for maps of the alien world, use desert stuff, or pixal new unique maps that look right. The player is on an alien planet. Also, make the water some other colour. Make tree's a diffrent colour, if you use them. Get the idea? For craft ings, If you get tired of pixaling, use stuff you
already have. Like a goblin foot, or rotten flesh, but name it some weird name. Like slime, or something. If you showed me a hammer, and I never saw one before, and you told me it was a tree, I would think it was a tree. Thats the idea. Do that to the players, if you dont want to pixal new
stuff.
With the crafting ings, obviously, let the players craft better "alien gear", but use an npc scientist in the ship. Quests would be great here. "go get me some materials from the planet, so I can study them". After they do that, or whatever, let them craft stuff with the newly studied
materials from the planet. Inside the ship, make new rooms open up as the player level's up with new crafts and gear to buy. Plus new quests. The ship could be huge, with tons of rooms to open up at level incriments. Level 10 they can get into a new room. Level 20 and so on........ Remember, there
is no towns in the game. This is the only "town" for the player.
For the aliens (monster npc's), use all the monsters that look like aliens. Thats just about all of them, exept medevil and demonistic looking ones. And theres no evil bad guy trying to take over the world. The player just tries to survive, and explore! Of course, weaker aliens would be
closest to the ship, and would get stronger as the player gets further out into the planet. Give good drops from the aliens. Then, along the way, the player somehow finds out that deep under ground is a colony of humans! Like zion in the matrix, and the goal is to make it to safty there in
the colony. But you cant get in there until your rb 1, and the player dosent even find out about it till late in the game. Maybe the crew of the ship gets the scanners running, and find a strange heat source deep under ground. What ever.
As the player makes their way further from the ship, the scientist could place warps to these new places, so players dont have to walk so far from the ship everytime they die or #warp ship. Make sense? Sorry if it dosent.
A neat idea for continuing the game could be this. After the player is rb 1, and reached the zion place, maybe it is revealed that an alien intellegance does lie down deep near the core. It destroyed the humans from the planet, and a new twist to the game opens up after rb 1.
IDK, w/e. And then, at rb 2 or what ever,....maybe a resucue party comes and takes the hero to a rescue ship, only to find out its been taken over and infested by the aliens!
Pets! if you want to use pets, use bot pets only! Any bot, robot or borg for the players pet.
Ok finishing this out, I'll cover 3 more things quickly.
1. Names, think star wars or start trek. Use space kinda names. All names, gear, and npc aliens!
2. Crafting ings. Not just the harvesting idea i already gave, but pieces of the aliens could be brought back for study and crafting use.3
3. Quests. With a whole world to explore, and even a spaceship at hand, there are tons of things to use. Like, if you want to expand the options the players have, give the ship a "Holo-deck" quest system. That way, you could do just about anything! Put portals in the hollo-deck room of the
ship, and they lead to - were ever you want! Its a hologram adventure for training! Make a cave to explore, with a quest tied to it, thats repeatable. I dont know........go crazy!
