If you ask me, Sausage should put a side bar next to the recent action list saying whether the person -1'd or +1'd any of the comments in the thread, as well as the total -1 or +1 of the main post. Would basically tell everyone who is the one going through each post -1'ing people.

Or could get rid of the whole karma thing in general. Best idea imo.

No disrespect to plasma and beware...but that would be a crappy ass idea. I think that the main moderators like sausage, Apollo and Desmond should hold karma power. I would feel much more comfortable knowing people who contributes to eoserv with most of their comments, rate me. Rather than some biased ass butthurt people fucking up peoples karma. @misca: I love that idea. Would find out which the haters are and why'd they down rate us.

Dislike that idea.. It was pretty much what was already around before this newer one...

@cynaide: just because it was like that before this current crappy karma system doesn't. Necessarily mean that it's a bad idea. The moderators gave good feedback when they down rated us. Hell I can still see why I got downgraded by them on my alt . It's much better than alot of biased people down voting us for the hell of it.

See I still disagree.. I'd get neutral on my Kodyt account and then some shatty feedback by desmond that was invalid.. That and then the users feel the mods are picking on them.

So you'd rather get downvotes by people and moderators rather than just moderators who can still downvote you now? I don't see the logic behind that. People will still think the moderators are picking on them regardless just because the amount of bans. I still don't get your logic.

Bans have gone down since the trigger happy mods found something to do.

Most places seem to solve this by adding two distinct categories: +1 Funny and +1 Insightful.

People who do get more positive ratings *do* get more karma points as it is, but the problem is that the people who get + ratings in the first place are people who get "lol dat was a funny trol gonna +1 you" responses, or artists. It could probably be tweaked a little harder, since karma points aren't exactly scarce, and limiting them just discourages them from giving out +1/-1 where they won't get attention for it (i.e. where we actually want +1s or -1s to be given out).

The point of the system is to encourage people to make good posts, and not make shit posts, by identifying the respectable users with a nice fat green number, and mark trolls with a big red one, unfortunately it's more a marker of your popularity. People will still throw -1s at post because they don't like the guy who wrote it, or disagree with something someone said.

Probably going to happen. It was originally added because there weren't enough moderators to dole out +1s and -1s to everyone who deserved them, but users apparently make horrible moderators.

None of us have the time or willpower to read through all the crap that flies through this forum. Ratings would again be very scarcely seen if it were only limited to moderators.

In all seriousness though, most of us did like it better when it was "Scarce" +1's or -1's, because at least when a moderator did give one out, it gave you a reason as to why they deserved it rather than just " Random person logs in, sees a topic, -1's everyone for no reason".

@misca: thank you. That's what I'm saying. Sometimes shit doesn't need fixing when its not broken or changed when it's not bad. The system was good as it was but in my opinion it is really messed up now.

Hey I know i posted this somewhere else before I saw this but here is my suggestion.Im not sure if it is good or not:

Would a karma system work better where you can only use it if you gain a certain amount of karma to use this feature and that you have more +'s rather than -'s,this way we wont get people making new accounts,trolling and -'ing everyone on a topic? i know most of you do not even care for the system but its just a suggestion
