Did you know there are three terms that define the three big categories of individuals? This may sometimes also apply to women, but it's commonly used for males.

ALPHA MALE: The guy who seems most at ease with women and can essentially marry or date any woman of his choice. In work settings, the alpha male may be a natural leader, exuding confidence. But he also may be contentious, demanding and difficult to work with.

BETA MALE: The betas are wingmen, collaborative and conciliatory. In human terms, betas make the best mates. They do more in the house, and probably in the bedroom, because they know how to hasten the greater good. The beta has poetry in him, and a touch of youthful idealism. He is sure of who he is, and not constantly trying to prove his value in materialistic terms.

OMEGA MALE: As opposed to alpha males and beta males, omega males are the lowest of the low on the guy food chain; they are the type of men who shirk responsibility, refuse to grow up and generally avoid participating in the real world. Omega males take many forms: Grose points to the whiny, wannabe public intellectual, the effete and preening metrosexual, and the obsessive video game junkie as representatives of this new class of men who have seemingly renounced traditional modes of masculinity.

My Questions:

Men: which do you consider yourself to be?

Women: Which are you more attracted to?

Personal opinion: As a woman, I would say Beta male. I never was and never will be wanting everyone to know (and make fun) of me dating the first type. Also, the Alpha male seems to be lacking positive personality traits, as the common example for him being the typical "jock" and also tending to date more women at the same time.

I consider myself as a mix between A Beta male and an Omega Male but it really depends on the girl im with to bring the Beta Male out of me....

These definitions seem to try to ascribe certain personality traits to people in a cookie-cutter fashion. I've never heard of the concept of being a "beta male" tried to pass off as somehow making you more intelligent, deep, compassionate, etc. The "omega male" definition almost looks like it was written by such a "beta male" to try and push some of his negative traits off on to other people.

The idea of being an alpha male is simply being confident, and a leader, not to be confused with being cocky and loud. If someone is a jerk, it's because they're a jerk, not because of their rank somehow transforming them in to a Jersey Shore character. Simply because of their powerful presence in a group, females will, naturally and instinctively, look up to and fall for them, regardless of the "anguishing pain in the very depths of his soul" of the guy sitting meekly in the corner and writing in his journal about how much he loves that one girl that he never got the courage to talk to, or even worse, crying all over the shoes of.

An alpha male is going to be much more aware of what's going on around him, socially, than a beta male who is constantly focusing on his position in a group, and making stupid blunders simply because he doesn't "get" things. That seems to point to the complete opposite of your definitions, where the alpha male would be the one who notices you, connects with you and is able to be playful and read your responses correctly. In the other corner, you get the beta male who pays more attention to what's in his own head than you, and will surely be dull as shit and too socially and emotionally immature to be the idealized quiet, romantic, amazing-in-bed guy you're dreaming about. A relationship with that kind of guy just gives you the meek, reserved and timid traits, or pathetic, immature and incapable of connecting with you in the way you want them to.

If you, by this definition of alpha/beta male, don't consider the alpha male a preferable companion than the beta male, you're either lying to yourself, or somehow dysfunctional as well. The reason alpha males are portrayed as "getting with all the girls" is simply because they are the people out there, in social groups, interacting with them correctly, and probably being the most interesting , entertaining and influential person to them.

Is there an option for "Don't give a fuck male"? Because I think I would fall into that category. I don't go out and socialize with people because I have an extreme dislike of social situations. I would much rather just be alone than be with people, honestly. I can go for weeks on end without saying a single word to someone because I don't feel the need to talk to people. I prefer messing with machines and that sort of thing more than I enjoy being around other people.

Going to have to agree just because it says obsessive video game junkie, which is what the majority of this community is.

And really, these are just bias opinions based on what you think or others think. And why you hating on Gamma Male? Think Omega is better?

Saying one thing in a whole sentence that is true does not make a statement true.
"All men are sexist pigs and most apples are red" does not mean that you should agree because most apples are red.

As for Moonie, I understand your remark to insult the men of EOSERV, but that is a broad assumption and could easily be proven wrong. Don't make an ass out of yourself by saying false statements. It would of given the same effect to say "^ just about every guy on EOSERV."

As for the topic, I consider myself to be a mixture of the three categories. Reading through the three different types, I found that I was apart of two of the three.

I honestly dont understand why i got a -1 above for answering the question which was asked :/....Every Individual is different and will have characteristics (idk the spelling) of all three so how about we pose a question to the females....there is only one type of female...nvm :/

Probably one of the best and worst topics I've seen in eoserv history. ~That being said, typically I would rank all three. I have an aplha way of communicating and interacting with people, a beta character and way of hastening the "greater good", and by renouncing all of the typical traits of the alpha and beta steriotypes listed here (because I like to be different?), I am therefore omega.

Probably one of the best and worst responses.
