Re: edit maps
You could open the unedited map in a hex editor and copy the timestamp over onto the edited map in a hex editor. Its a tedious process if you intend to do it a lot, but it keeps the server from updating the map and taking away your edits.
Just remember the server handles checking if a square is unwalkable or not.

Re: edit maps
What would the point be? Are you just wanting to try out the map with out having to set up a eoserv?? If so just use seose to test maps.

Ahh makes sense, at one time there was a patch that helped you through the maze.
Like Ryouken pretty much said remember the server will still block the unwalkable tiles. ---

Re: edit maps
If you are talking about the castle maze, the official quest has a total of three checkpoints that must be passed before you will be given proper credit for completion. Since these checkpoints are a part of a quest script you will not be able to view them on any map editor. I can tell you the maze is pretty easy if you do have the map editor. You can probably figure out how to get to the end of the maze well before you waste five hours attempting to do something that every server, including the main server, will not allow. Takes me about 20 minutes to run the castle maze :P
