| ![]() This topic is all about charity, donating, helping the earth and other people in need and doing so with none or little effort. I kept thinking about posting this since some of you may be calling it "useless topic", but I decided I wanted to share what I know. I would really appreciate it if you'd take your time to read this and think about the fact that every little bit of help matters. Hopefully some of you or your friends will understand. There are three things I want to talk about; Ecosia, Charity miles and Charity: water. First one: Ecosia - the green search When people search for stuff on the internet, they mostly click on the first links they see. That's why companies pay a lot of money to be between the first ones. Every information about this is stored on servers that need gas to function. Even more gas than all of the planes together. Ecosia is a green search engine that donates 80% of the money it receives to protect the rainforest. They are hand-in-hand with Yahoo! search and Bing search. You are literally helping the planet only by searching things online. Link: http://www.ecosia.org/ More information: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I58hDYu5oKQ Second one: Charity miles Using iPhone or Android phone? Download this free app called Charity miles. Take a walk, run or a bike ride to school or work. Before you start open the app and choose between 10 types of charity: 1. A.S.P.C.A. (The American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu_JqNdp2As 2. Achilles International - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIuX8jLnayc 3. Autism Speaks. It's time to listen - (channel) http://www.youtube.com/user/autismspeaksvids?feature=results_main 4. Feeding America - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hw3e--ECEk 5. The Global Fund (To fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria - (channel) http://www.youtube.com/user/theglobalfund?feature=results_main 6. Habitat for Humanity - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE6Rg7xhTrQ 7. The Michael J. Fox Fundation for Parkinson's Research - (channel) http://www.youtube.com/user/michaeljfox?feature=results_main 8. The Nature Conservacy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG8tJ-UmQDw 9. Pencils of Promise - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6kCkkLo6Rw 10. World Food Programme - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jSBW0BOPqM Each mile will earn a walker or runner 25 cents per mile and a biker 10 cents per mile. For example: I go to school 5 days a week. The road is 1.394 miles long. That makes 34.85 cents. Multiply by 2 and you get 69.7 cents a day. Multiply by 5 and you get 3.485 dollars a week, and so on. Here's a link for the ones who want to download Charity miles: http://www.charitymiles.org/ And the last thing I want to share is Charity: water Charity water is a non-profit organisation that allows people to volunteer and donate money to the people in need of water. It requires more involvement than the other two charity programs, but if you really want to know more, check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCHhwxvQqxg Thank you for reading. I really appreciate it

| ![]() I wouldn't consider this to be a useless topic. It actually has a purpose unlike those retarded topics pandemonium kept posting yesterday for some reason. >_> Also, i had no idea there was a search engine for the environment. o_o Thats pretty awesome. ;o

| ![]() Lol, right im sure almost everyone here would put out some sweet shit if it was worth the time/money lol.. --- Hail Satan!
|
| ![]() I did not ask you to volunteer to Charity: water right after reading this topic, neither did I ask you to do anything but read it. I understand it may be something some people may find amusing the fact that someone is trying to share their thoughts about helping the world we live in even though the efforts put in by the person who helps is minimal. I can take friendly yet anonymous humor even though it is insulting because I knew there was a 70% chance of this to happen since I am posting it on EOServ yet I was hoping that in this small community there might be someone who would gladly like to help. I did not ask for money for my own good, I asked for you to help charity. The first two subjects I talked about did not involve stuff for charity sent from the reader, it involved stuff that need little effort put in with small amounts of effects that in the end count as a big help to everything I was talking about. Not everyone has an empirical life and neither do I since I am at the beginning of my journey, I know taking things too serious may sound preposterous but neither does making fun of everything sound too mature. I appreciate you took the time to read my topic and reply to it, though.

| ![]() I wasn't trying to be funny. I really did think that search engine thing was pretty awesome. :o

| ![]() Omen posted: (1st Oct 2012, 04:37 pm) I often take things way too serious, so I have to apologize if my comment sounded too mean. It's just.. everyone has their things. And mine is eco stuff. I can get harsh when things get misunderstood. I'm glad you think it's a great idea
|
| ![]() i shouldve worded my post a little differently, i was half asleep and i kinda browsed, but like.. how much do you think someone would donate if you ran like 2 miles straight or something?... Pretty much effort/time spent = charity money (as long as you can find sponsors, etc.) Edit: I'll run 2 miles later if you can set something up, I dont have a specific charity in mind, so I guess pick one. I used to do door to door sales for a while, the company I worked for probably filled entire children hospital libraries in a matter of months. --- Hail Satan!

| ![]() Omen posted: (1st Oct 2012, 04:42 pm) They earn 25 cents per mile for walkers and runners and 10 cents per mile for bikers. That would be 50 cents for 2 miles. It sounds little, but if you think about doing this regularly the money will soon add up. I plan a 4-miles-run this weekend with my iPhone/Android friends. I think it's a great opportunity to also stay in shape/lose weight if you're planning to. That's what motivated some of them in the first place

| ![]() I'm not trying to be rude, but
Dude, that's ridiculous, I've fed people lines of bullshit for 15 minutes and got them to write $1,000 checks to charites. Shit, you'd be way better off asking people for pop bottles for a charity fundraiser, that earns like $60-$120 dollars an hour AT LEAST if you have a decent pop bottle return (michigans is 10c) shit you set something up with a charity to where I make like idk 1/5 to 1/10 I'd work it as an hourly job. Edit: Also, it's completely legal to "peddle" in my county. So as long as theirs not a "NO SOLICITNG" sign in the front of the neighborhood, its completely legal. (Although I could give two fucks for those signs) XD Edit#2- I'm not a religous person, but doing this through a religous group etc, would be the best way to do it. --- Hail Satan!

| ![]() Usually I criticize these kind of things because the owner or leaders of these actions swarm in money, drive a Mercedes/Bmw and act like they care, also have heard so much stories on the news about these people, and it's really hard to believe they're just doing it for nature or the people, in this case I don't know either, I don't like how people try to make money because of others good intent. In this case I can't say, it's a really good initiative ur showing here, and that App actually might work (if it actually works with the money). I mean turning on an App is not a big deal, at this stage I was going to say something that I might actually look into it, but I totally forgot what I was going to say, damnit, anyway I might since its free, and see some reviews of the App.

| ![]() Omen posted: (1st Oct 2012, 05:03 pm)Yeah, I know it may sound like it's not worth it. (I could have also read the money sum wrong) but I can't donate much. I'm under 18 and my parents think my only job is to do well in high school, learn, learn and learn :( I send sms' to charities from my country monthly and I used to participate to charity or volunteering events when there were heavy rains that destroyed the villages around here. It's been peaceful in the past few years so there were none organised anymore. My point is, I try to help charities from around the world without involving my family, who disagrees with me giving bigger amounts of money. I found Ecosia and Charity miles, got very excited and wanted to spread the word.
|
| ![]() You need to get alot of facts/research together, and then get the charities numbers, call them until it works. Their are probably more charity/helpful religious organizations than banks. Edit: Pretty much do that and post it here, I can call them myself if you'd like. --- Hail Satan!

| ![]() roefl posted: (1st Oct 2012, 06:46 pm) I know, I heard some of those stories, but charity water does help people. They are filming their volunteers and everything they do. Plus, they've been going on with this non-profit organisation for quite a long time. Also, charity miles co-operates with 10 different charity organisations that are pretty known. |
