Hey im making a montage and want some music to play throu the clips does anyone know any free music that can be used and isn't copyright? Thanks

Wow, background music for a montage? That's not a cliche at all...

I think you can use whatever music you want, YouTube will just send you notices saying "hey that's copyrighted no can haz" and give you a choice to either credit the author (aka record company) or remove your video. I think it ends up putting adds on your video or linking to the author's site.

I had a similar problem when I uploaded some classical piano performances I did, where youtube sent me "hey that's copyrighted no can haz" messages. I got to tell them to gtfo (aka dispute the claim -.-) because the songs were more than 100 years old and I was the one performing them xD

As for something that wouldn't require you selling your soul to a record company, you're mostly out of luck unless the music is an original composition or a performance of something that was written a long time ago. Hopefully someone else has a better idea - I'd be interested to know if there's something like this out there as well.

PS - Nothing in life is free. There are few exceptions to that - but for the most part, if you want something, you have to give something in return.

YouTube actually provide free music but non of them tickled my pickle sort of speech so was hoping they was others but thanks for your response
