If the laptop is more than 3 years old, I wouldn't spend the money on trying to resurrect it. It would be more cost
efficient to buy a new one...even though that's not what you want to hear. ---

Assuming you probably have useless garbage all over that machine you can try this: Disable startup programs you don't need with msconfig. Clean your registry with Eusing Free Registry Cleaner Delete temp files (Start>Run>Type %temp%) Monitor the high use memory programs with task manager and stop programs you don't need. Aside from that keep in mind as Technology advances so do program requirements and the demand for more ram and cpu. That machine is ready for retirement.

Either get Game Booster (It helps but doesn't do miracles), or run the disk defragmenter and let it do the work. And I agree with the response above, uninstall/delete any programs you don't need.
*Edit, also if your computer runs slow and freezes, it might have a virus. So I would suggest to get MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.

Sorry to break this too you (and your own rule) but you simply need a new computer. No amount of advice here about deleting, disabling or downloading software is going to magically make your old computer fast enough to play most games like MineCraft. Your computer simply isn't up to spec for
running these things. In your situation the only thing I can advise it to look for older games that don't require the kind of processing power a modern game does. Avoid games that are written to work in VM's like Java, managed environments like dotNet or interpreted pcode like Flash. Stick to older
CPU native games like EO.

overclock your processor
Will have little to no difference on most modern games. Gain an understanding on where most older systems fall down with newer software and you'll see raw CPU speed is not where the bottle-neck is.

Re: Hey Help Please Guys
As Sordie said, you'll need a new computer. I doubt your motherboard can even handle adding more RAM, and a reasonable minimum for RAM(memory) these days is 2 gigabytes (You have about a fourth of that.)
Also, just to give you an idea. I'm currently running a quad core 2.2 Ghz processor, and this processor is outdated. Yours is a dinosaur. And again, I doubt your motherboard could handle upgrades to any of the better parts.
So you'll want to get a new computer. It might run you a few hundred dollars, but at least it won't run poorly.
