Re: Windows 8 Pro activation...
Care to tell why you think that? I'm up for a debate, maybe you can shed some light for me on why I shouldn't use it?
I'll share my current thoughts on bits I find cool and interesting:
- much faster boot/reboot
- much better personalization
- services seem optimized and more sensible for end users than previous windows 7 builds (except home)
- Windows To Go will be put to good use when I need it (which I will)
- USB 3.0 support will be awesome (when I get one)
- metro UI is kind of cool....ish (so far the only bit I like is the 'Calender', 'People', 'Messenger' and 'Mail' tabs, they seems very well integrated)
- Task Manager is so much better
- new UI for explorer is very useful albeit a bit messy
- metro style is just clean, aero sucked major balls and i spent a lot of time downloading custom themes just to get rid of it lol
- it's up to date? Multi threading on windows 8 has been improved a lot
- new 'Multi copy' window allows combining of file transfer processes, and also allows selective pausing
I will let you know more as I explore it :P

Just like when Vista was around, the majority of end users 'Didn't like' windows 7, I suppose it is just a fear of change. Vista was a bloody train wreck and I thought win 7 was a MAJOR improvement (it was). Windows 8 is on a whole new level of usability and speed, and actually makes me frown apon
using windows 7 now. ---

What games?? I haven't ran into any problems like that yet. Unless you mean the old previews, which were total shit. ---

Re: Windows 8 Pro activation...
It was about a month and a half ago when this happened, I was running win8 on my sony vaio.. Not only did my built in webcam drivers not work with win8 the problems that it caused with my ipod and verizon phone programs just pissed me off.. And I can't remember the game that wouldn't work but it
was the last draw for me. I'm sure win8 will be a good OS when its finished, but for now I find it unneeded on any of my computers. XD But it was a nice change. ---

Re: Windows 8 Pro activation...
My thoughts of W8:
Pros:
- Boot with a SSD is few seconds faster than booting W7 with a SSD.
- It's slightly faster on normal desktop use, than W7.
- I get 1-5 FPS better performance on different games.
- I get a lot higher FPS, when Frapsing on W8 than on W7 (Clean installs of Windows)
Cons:
- I hate the "start" screen.
- UI is little bit "Boxy". (I think I need time to get used to it.)
Conclusion: It's fast. Faster than any Windows so far. Some new features and UI changes makes it look bad.

You failed to consider what Windows 8 will run like once it's 'hacked up' aka optimized.
I also hated the start screen at first and it definitely takes some getting used to, but doesn't every OS? I like the start screen a lot now that I've customized it, removed things I don't like and added things that I do like.

I didn't fail to consider it, the fact is I wasn't going to waste time messing with win8 until it can run all my programs and work with all my devices flawlessly. ---

Re: Windows 8 Pro activation...
The lack of a start menu is my only major problem with it. When I hit the windows key, I DON'T want their bloated start screen popping up every time. Also the fact that it's designed for tablets is an issue for me - corners are useless when using a
mouse. For those of us with desktops that won't be using the touch interface, it will be difficult to get used to. I tried it out (single monitor) back in January and it was a pain getting to the shut down button
because I had to flick the mouse into the corner just to get to that menu. I also have 3 monitors now, with the center monitor as my main. Am I correct in assuming I will have to flick my mouse all the way to the outer corners in order to turn my computer
off?
My favorite metro app is definitely Remote Desktop. They added support for multiple sessions and cleaned it up a lot. I was quite impressed by it.
I don't understand Microsoft's targeting of the tablet market with Windows 8. Serious computer users and gamers, which represent a LOT of Window's current market, own desktops. Not laptops, not tablets. I'll be interested to see how well it does after release and what improvements they've made
over the past 7 months or so.

I don't get exactly why it's so difficult for you to move the mouse into the corner of the screen. On any windows the start button is in the corner. Corners of the screen are in fact more distinct than any kind of UI graphical button (hint FAR corner). I haven't found any inconveniences yet, you
didn't really mention what kind of devices or apps you could not make work though.
Edit: @Cykka, oh I see you mean the iPod etc.. I don't use any of those :/

Re: Windows 8 Pro activation...
I'm moving to Windows 8 once I buy it (26th October actually).
Now I'm just dual booting, so I can learn to use W8 more effective ways.
