Came across this picture on the internet I found it sad and it bit hysterical. It's funny how much we overlook when playing games like this when we were little goes to show that there was more than just Pokemon battles.

I spent days researching about your rivals missing pokemon. Come to find out, that when you battle him on the S.S. Anne, you kill his Raticate. Sad, I know. There is a ton of background stories inside red/blue version.

Wow, I never knew this.

I figured this out like a week ago. Never payed much attention to it when I was playing my yellow version because it didn't seem very important. For the most part this is just an assumption since he doesn't use his raticate, however ash is not the only one who gets to use the pokemon storage system, making it quite possible for his raticate to have survived.

Not a proven fact that his raticate died.

All the other information is true though.

I don't think thats what he actually says.. I'm going to have to go open up the rom and look at the dialog in that town... 


On a different note I played a rom that you start out as rocket members.. and in this town you go kill the mother marowak with a mechetta... Just thought I'd throw that out there.. Kind of ruined the tower for me in other games. :(

Just took a closer look at that photo. Never noticed any of those things. xD. Probably because I was a lot younger. Pretty cool stuff though.

Haven't played Red or Blue since I was 9 or 10 but I vaguely remember him saying that.

Or it could be just the fact that his Raticate was a weak piece of shit. Below is some more Pokemon Theories.

Hey, ______ ! What brings you here? Your Pokemon don't look dead! I can at least make them faint! Let's go, pal!

Highly spread rumor, it may be true, it may not be true. The one counter argument is that he traded out his raticate for cubone. Throughout the game he continues to say that he is assembling the most powerful team, which would help prove this theory.

I like the War theory, it would simi back the game: Pokemon Conquest.. which I just started playing seems to be set in the FAR FAR FAR off past of the pokemon world.
