Re: EE Virus?
What you are downloading is basically a hex-edited version of the original EO main client. The changes to the client are as follows: Changes to the Title Header bar Changes to the password recovery link Changes to the maximum races selected at character creation Changes to the client version number (required for epatch.exe to update your graphics)
for eirc.exe: Changes to the URL/Port/Chatroom
Other than these changes and graphical updates, the client you download is the exact same one you get from EO main. Any noted viruses are false positives which merely prove you already have insufficient virus protection. EE's client isn't what you should worry about, but rather getting an anti-virus program that can tell the difference between legit software and trojans would be nice. If your anti-virus program mistakes legit software for a trojan, it would probably mistake a trojan for legit software as well. In other words, Norton and McAfee are only mediocre when it comes to protection. Wal-Mart and other retail outlets push these names. Here is an output of the EE Client ran through 43 different anti-virus scans:

As you can see, only Comodo(wtf antivirus that is) thinks EE is a trojan. The eirc.exe returned a bit more warnings:

False positives such as this are common with IRC clients. If you still feel unsafe, just remove the eirc.exe and move on with life. *scans completed at http://www.virustotal.com
