Re: Poll or Survey.
I would say Quest writers and mappers would be last, nobody really takes in the hard work mapping and quest writing can be, On my old server It would break my heart when people would bash "Next" on my well written quests brought tears down my eyes. ---

Re: Poll or Survey.
The truth is, none of the above. The person who actually decides where all the maps and towns are going to be, what should be in them what will it look like, does it flow nicely, next they have to stat all the items and npcs, make sure that they maintain balance among them (this is actually very
hard after multiple versions). All the extra features that are coded in, this person decides, what will be in the gift box, will you need a key? Who should be hired as admins, who should be fired, who will host? who will fight the ddosers and the crashers? The server owner by far has the hardest
and most complex job of all, as well as is the most important aspect of the server. Great maps and pixels mean shit if you dont have an awesome co-ordinater. Server running over 2.5 yrs, and 21 versions, much experience validates my opinion. Most of you are entitled to yours but it really has no
validity.

Obviously its whoever does their job well. You can't just judge how much a person has contributed to a server by how hard their job looks. For example lets say a pixel artist makes a couple of map objects and a mapper makes over 80 maps that took hours each to make or a coder made a simple
little aoe code while a moderator just kept 20 or so of your players happy. In the end, its not the job, its how well you do it.

I don't believe that it really has no validity. You should also think that without this positions, there's nothing that the owner can do. For example, without pixel artist, what will the owner release new gfx? Nothing. Without mapper? what will the owner use as new places? Nothing. Without coder?
What will the owner use as new sources and features for his servers? Nothing. In short, an owner won't have his "Complex" job, unless he doesn't have his "Valuable" staff. Remember, three heads are better than one. There's a lot of server owners who can't stand without this complete staff, unless
they're very creative on implementing. ---

Re: Poll or Survey.
Actually the correct answer roots down to "the hackers" because without Sausage reverse engineering how EO validates the clients then you wouldn't even be here discussing how great your staff is. =S
Saying "Programmers" is pretty much a joke for most servers. OK, So a few out are valid coders but for the best part most additions to the EOSERV code are badly written admin commands, passed amongst the community and shoe horned in to the existing code.

Re: Poll or Survey.
This is hard to answer because all play a part in a successful server. It really depends how much work you put in to what you are. Example, if you rush maps and only make 100-150 for your server, then mapping isn't the most important position, because you haven't contributed much and they came
out bad. However if you put time and effort into your maps, don't rush them and make them a Huge, open world. Then mapping is an important position. Reading this people don't think Mapping or Quest writing are important positions, but to make good Maps/Quest takes a lot of time and effort (e.g
I've spent 3+ hours on single maps). But for just the most important position, I would have to say coding. With new, exciting and good features, coding can make your server Rise above the rest more then other positions.
