13 years, 17 weeks agoIt does need more isometric. Still, I'd love to see you continue with the new MMO idea. ---

13 years, 17 weeks agoAre we all not sick of isometric engines these days? Every time someone says "2.5D" I want to punch them in the face.
Isometric/Fake 3D was great before we had fast 3D hardware and you wanted to make something look 3D. Now we have the hardware so if you want 3D USE IT! Some of us actually like 2D!
I wrote this a short time ago. It looks 2.5D (....but....)

 IT ISN'T! =P

13 years, 17 weeks agoNU DON'T GIVE UP THE PASCAL! It's so easy to use D: Learning Pascal took no time at all compared to learning a tiny amount of C++ XD.. To be fair though, the things I've seen you do in pascal beats me any day rofl. Although from what I understand you're more into the delphi, and I've not found a
compiler for delphi that's free & good (Not that I've especially been looking) Maybe one day if I get a decent paying job I'll look into RAD studio as I think that's what you use? Correct me if I'm wrong :P anyway, good luck with the project! I'd be interested to see the outcome :) Also.. Props for the non-iso. Been looking for a decent MMO That isn't iso, which is why I was looking forward to that psythori shit that was going round the forums a couple weeks back :P ---

13 years, 17 weeks agoSo, what would you guys prefer? 2D or 3D or a mix of both? (Anyone says 2.5D and I may have to break out my record breaking horde of Karma points =P)

I'd have to opt for 2D.

13 years, 17 weeks agoYeah don't want the characters too small that you can't see detailed armour and weps. Also what features you planning on adding? I think afew of us should suggest stuff! Or is that rushing into it lol

13 years, 17 weeks agoLooks like 2D it is then. I was thinking of 2D in a (slightly) 3D world. Although it would be a bit experimental and may not look quite as good in real life as it does in my head =P (quick sketch)

And I have to agree, I love 2D games always have done even since I played my first RPG =D

13 years, 17 weeks agoSordie, what is your view on multi-threaded applications? What do you consider a good threading model to be? I am currently somewhat split between threads. I have a client in C++(of course it's EO), that has a networking thread, rendering thread, input thread, and then 4 content loading threads,
which seems to work nice. But I am working on a remaking a old childhood game in C# and I'm not sure if I want to bother since it should be able to handle it.
