Strange Port-Forwarding problem?
So my problem isnt for a specific game so I figured this would be the right topic for it. In general I know how to port-forward because I have run servers before.
I recently got my desktop gaming computer running. I have Internet transfer to the desktop from my laptop. Since I set that up port-forwarding hasnt worked. I have no idea why it wont.
My laptops Default gateway is:
192.168.1.1
where as my desktops is:
fe80::9910:acde:864a:53c1%11
192.168.137.1
I tried hosting the server on both computers and neither seem to be working.
Any help will be great!
thanks ahead of time.

Re: Strange Port-Forwarding problem?
did you log into the router through your internet browser and forward the port from there?

Re: Strange Port-Forwarding problem?
and what did you do under the port forwarding tab in there? also your windows firewall might need to have an exception put in also.

Everything is port-forwarded correctly and there are no firewall problems. I know how to do it but since I hooked up my desktop it hasn't worked. I have no idea why. But I am moving soon and we are putting internet in my room so I can connect my computer to that then and this shouldn't be a problem
so it doesn't matter much right now.

Re: Strange Port-Forwarding problem?
my bro and me had a portforwarding problem too, we asked a friend to help us and we first did
logged into the router, turn your firewall off [it blocks alot of ports]
add your server into the router on port 8078 [put 192 etc etc in it as the ip]
lock you ip on the LAN [so your ip wont change]
if you got a router for wireless net you could put the last number from the 192 high for example 160, if you log on your laptop then and opened your server and it wouldve been 192.138.1.1 [your ip and gateway] it wouldve gone to 192.138.1.2 automaticly
second thing you could do [which is simple but solves the problem]
add port 8078 into your firewall so it wont get blocked
sorry if its kinda messy but it did help at my place :) gl!

NOOOOOO I know how to do it it's the fact when I have it plugged into my desktop it doesnt work. my desktop has 192.168.137.x instead of 192.168.1.x
I need to know how to fix THAT
Not to be mean or anything but people keep saying how to portforward and I know how

okay well, the title said Port forwarding problem, thats not the case here.
all you have to do is statically assign the IP by the computers mac address.

Re: Strange Port-Forwarding problem?
go to command prompt type ipconfig /all and look for physical address thats your MAC address. or you can type getmac either way.
then go to the router and look for DHCP or dynamic host control protocol and change it to statically assign IP address put the computers mac address in there and assign it the IP address that you want.

That doesn't work so I am just going to wait. I move in a few weeks and I will be able to port forward then with no problem.
