Does anyone know if a free Minecraft VPS I can host my MC Server on? I have quite a few players who enjoy my server, but tons of downtime cause of my shitty internet. does anyone know of any? or just a regular free VPS?

Or does anyone know how to speed up your internet? For some reason my laptops internet speed is WAY WAY faster than my Desktops. I have an alienware desktop. And a Compaq Laptop. I have a USB Stick Internet thing, would that help speed up my desktops internet?

There is simply no free VPS for various reasons:

A: Who the heck would host your server free, that costs way too much to them.
B: Nothing stays up long, if they can't get fair income.

About the internet, do you have regular modem on your desktop, are you sure that your 3g usb stick modem isn't actually faster?

3G USB sticks tends to have fairly big ping, so players might and probably will lag.


3MB Upload = 3 + you.
5MB Upload = 7 + you, Might lag or not.
10MB Upload = 8 players, without lag, with decent plugins.
100MB Upload = 60+ players, without big lag, with decent plugins.
1GB uplink, root = 100-200.

You can easily test that how many players you can host, if you know your upload/Download speed & RAM.

This does not tell the actual truth, but it gives small guidelines what you can do.

Easy solution to this. As already pointed out you can't get a VPS for free however, The cheapest I know is http://redstonehost.com/ the small package that holds up to 16 players is $12.95 USD. I have to say that is definatly the cheapest way of it.
