I haven't read the books but I thought the movie was decent all except for every fight scene you could have sworn the camera man was getting attacked. That or he has parkinsons because he could not hold the camera still if his life depended on it.

I'm pretty sure the director meant it to be shakey to give it some sort of home video effect, like paranormal activity if you've ever watched it. There are certain actions scenes where there is some camera shaking but it's not extremely bad to cause motion sickness.

So the movie was alright. I believe I would have enjoyed it so much more if I had not read the books. It being a PG 13 movie just pretty much ruined it for me. I was disappointed at the cornucopia scenes when the games started..I was just expecting so much gore/blood...They also did not include Rue/Thresh's background story which was pretty essential! {Spoiler} ...Rue's death was touching and all, but the impact wasn't as strong as when i was reading it in the book...probably because they didn't try to explain how Katniss saw her own sister in Rue and stuff...idk.... {Spoiler}

I'm giving it a solid 7/10.

I agree, they also didnt show the backstory. It was a good movie, but they left out a few things. 8/10

Also, for those of you who thought the camera movement was crappy, it was because of these reasons:
  • They were trying to show you how the character feels at that moment
  • They were trying to keep it PG-13, so the motion blur kinda let you see some blood, but not all of the gore.

Watched it on tuesday, was surprised to see how much people waiting in line just to get good seats .. I was laughing at the fact I was like the youngest person in line never knew old people were such fanatics of the Hunger games. Even though they forgot alot of things, I really think Jennifer Lawrence did a amazing job at acting as Katniss it's like she really WAS her aswell with Peeta and Rue. They forgot a few things and changed a few scenes really wasn't expecting the movie to be exactly played out as the book word for word otherwise that would just be tedious.

Also, am I the only one really exicted for the second movie, those who read the book the Catching fire is when shit goes down. I'm guessing it will cost them alot of money to make the second movie, with all the events that will be taking place.

All in all it was amazing, I stood up and did the three fingered salute when Rue x.x

I was thinking the same thing, with harry potter finished and twilight coming to a end, all the fanatics will be going nuts over hunger games. To be honest, I was more sad about Finnick death than prims. I also wonder who's going to be playing Finnick, it would make sense if he was asian.. inthemovie the District 7 tributes were, which would make some sense since district 11 was prodominently black people.

Also I hate when people do that whole Team Peeta vs. Team Gale kind of bullshit, those who read the books know what happens with Peeta and how much of a asshole Gale becomes.

The third book should cost them the most money, with the spaceship and all that shit.
