Personally i like them both, Depends what your after really! I have a PS3 for the free online and Blu Ray player.

But like you said the Xbox party chat/early downloads make it worth the monthly costs

yeah i have a ps3 as well, before i had a ps3 i wanted an xbox but now i have a ps3 i dont really come to like xbox gaming.. i dont like the controllers haha but still there good consoles.

I would prefer my pc because its better than these. But if i have to choose between these 2 i would choose ps3. Althought ps3 has a huge negative feature that dont let you play old ps2 games. The good part is that with a very few money you can buy a ps3 with a very small hard disc and replace it alone with a bigger one. That saves you a lot of money.

xbox, as they will make a next gen console, and sony said they not even started on a next gen console... xbox will have a head start again like last time, but this time it will take even longer.. xbox vs playstation is old, it will be xbox vs wii-u and just to be honest? who buys nintendo console's nowadays?

Always xbox, Owned by Microsoft that shits on Sony multiple times. Microsoft would'nt even buy Sony, If they did it would be for the Blue-Ray.

Better online experience by far, Foxtel, TV, Apps, Youtube + more ( Yea ps3 has internet but it's terrible. )

Playstation move is black and white compared to the kinect.

Xbox live users get content earlier. Better exclusive games like "Halo" Which is better than killzone and uncharted and any other ps3 only game put together.

Probally alot more reasons but that's all i'll say on the matter.

The only thing I like about the Ps3 is free internet and Blue-Ray. That is the only two advantages it has over the xbox.

PS3 gets stuff like Lovefilm/Netflix etc
Reason i bought a PS3 was because my Xbox got RLOD so i bought a Playstation and its lasted a lot longer.
(When i had the Xbox they didn't have built in WiFi so it cost the same price for a Xbox as it did for a PS3 and with the PS3 i had Bluray)

I've got both a PS3 and a Xbox. I've had the PS3 for about 5 years and the Xbox for three. Haven't had any issues with them not working. I personally prefer the Xbox.

People have their own opinions, there isn't one that's better than the other, they're both the same in some peoples opinions, maybe PS3 in other, or XBOX. IMO, I like PS3 the best, probably because it was one of my first gaming console besides Nintendo 64, I remember I used to play Socom, Rachet & Clank, Jak, Spyro, Gran Trismo or however you spell it.. Ahh, the goodtimes before I have met Endless Online xD.

But PS3 has lots more options IMO, and more free to play than XBOX. But I kinda like XBOX for a few things.. Such as... The mics, better than my shitty bluetooth. And some I can't think of right now. But soon I am buying a few hundred dolar mic that's compatible with PC, XBOX, and PS3 :D. I have both PS3 and XBOX.

P.S the internet is not different on PS3, it is the same as XBOX's. People just say that to make their XBOX looks like it's a best, I guess that's a part of humans, to think everything THEY have is the best, and others aren't xD

Xbox. looks cooler, party chat,  and COD maps a month before PS3. the 1 week battlefield thing idc about. also, it has Halo. and it's getting minecraft to xbox live exclusive in spring.
