People abusing the -1 rep score?
I think people are abusing the -1 and giving -1 for the stupidest reason or maybe because they don't like someone.
What do you think?

That's the whole point of reputation. Posting random offtopic stuff will make people dislike you and you'll find more and
more -1's.
If you do something nice for the community then people will start to like you. Then you'll start getting +1's.

Valid question, and imo it doesn't deserve any -'s at all. But yes some people do abuse it, but its there for people to see your reputation in the community how others feel about you... think of it this way..your being judged by 12year olds who want to run a p.server don't let it get to you. ---

I can honestly say I don't know how I got +20, I should of been been stuck at zero.. It goes to show that the community doesn't really judge us for if our post are helpful or not. I got most my +1's when I was trolling in lounge... Go Troll Team GO! ---

Well I have the highest rep here and I honestly don't care what it's at haha. People can -1 or +1 you, but just like in real life the same thing applys. You shouldn't care how people judge you as long as you believe what you're doing is right. I will plus 1 your post to make you happier, but
while you're reading this, please take it into consideration. After all this is just a forum. It's not like you're getting -1's in real life lol.

Patterns like -1ing (or +1ing) the same person over and over again are easily detected and deleted (plus the built-in limits of only giving so many ratings to a certain user in a day). The biggest issues with the system is that people who post 100 things a day eventually get higher reputations than people who post good things occasionally, and the over-representation of people who browse and rate the most. There also needs to be some kind of cost associated with ratings so they're not given out so lightly.

Sorry for overposting lol :( I agree with what you have said though, I also liked the old rep system, because it was almost like an electoral college, where people wouldn't get -1ed for posts that shouldn't be. It was also more balanced. I'm eager to see how you improve this rep system.

There are ways to insure a reputation system is not abused, though it also depends on how far the staff is willing to go in order to make sure the system is not being abused. At least that's what is needed for an idea I have in mind. ---

Well, if it persists so much just display a popup that shows who -/+'d the user. People might not like the fact that everyone can see they're a blatant hater/kissass.
imo: When I'm in a good mood I like to browse around looking for decent topics/posts to +1.
If I see people making potentially aggressive/argumentative posts I usually -1 them. People like that usually have 0 rep anyway.
