Project Interest Thread No. #407
Number #407 may be inaccurate within a few hundred digits. It's definitely not the first project interest thread i've posted on here though.
In opening the thread, I want to announce that I myself have started the project as a General Manager, with the assistance of Scott at AllGamer who has been kind enough to provide us with the necessary hardware and Natalie who has yet to be assigned a role but has been actively
involved in the development of the project so far.
We want to start an online community (forum or network) or content providing service (blog, podcast). We have certain demands of it too. It has to have a focus area that isn't subject to sudden discontinuation or change, it has to be relatively sophisticated and it has to be profitable - we
would love to make some money off of this to invest back into our future projects and ideas.
What would you like to see us make, EOSERV?

What is your project regarding? I'm not sure the extent of what your proposal is but I suppose I'll make a couple suggestions:
- An open/closed source game/software development portal (like a sort of root place to find different games/software in development).
- An EOServ private server reviews and updates blog (a trusted person reviews and posts updates about various servers).
Can't think of anything else that would interest local forum members.

Can you guys do something like this? If not you really need to take a look at what you are currently capable of.

Blogs aren't terribly hard to make and update frequently.

If I went full out devoting my time to a web community, I'm damn sure not going to make a blog.

You could have game/software developers pay you to follow and review their work, and then update your portal whenever they release updates with reviews and stuff. You get paid, they save time money on online promotion and get more coverage/interest. Just a suggestion.

Very simple proposal. It's the two of us (Scott is providing the hardware but isn't otherwise contributing) with provisions for further staff, we have some available server hardware to use, we want to use it for something that's interesting, something that has the potential to grow, turn a profit
and caters to a relatively decent group of people. At the moment all of our servers are idle, completely unused and we want to use them, we're not sure what they should be used for though.
Problem with anything EOSERV related is that it meets none of the criteria. It's not overly interesting, it's pretty much peaked as far as its potential for growth and it's basically unprofitable as a result. However i'm sure, or at least I hope that the members of this community can
turn a few ideas outside of private servers.
If they can't though, it's nothing of concern. I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket and the ideas are sure to come from outside EOSERV.net as well.

Well there's a lot of different people around this community that do different things e.g. art, pixel art, software dev, music artists, gaming, videos, web development, etc
If you aim to cover most of those interests, think about what you can do for these people (e.g. review and promote their work ). I'm not talking about EOServ, just the community and their interests. You already have a potential user base.

Well the best idea I can provide is (since sblord likes literature) a community for aspiring writers. ---

Very interesting, can't wait to see what comes of this.
edit:
Well heres a few things you might find interesting, the following.
Selling space for ads, a store section of some sort for programs and such. Write articles that people will pay for, a freelance program. Write about products for profit (kind of ties with articles) , software reviews, and maybe something such as cafepress.

See I'm unsure what exactly your meaning, are you asking for idea's such as a game?
Or strictly community type stuff such as forums/socialnetworking/radio/podcast ect.
I'd like to see a social networking site strictly for online gaming, where people put in the games they play an the systems an it recommends people ect, with maybe a option to host your guild/clan on the social networking site too, with some sort of ranking system. I mean I know theres a few places
kinda like this already but they are all lacking some thing special. ---

Re: Project Interest Thread No. #407
Don't worry about it. We created this thread here to see if anyone would give us ideas outside of the typical gaming suggestions based on ideas from users that have other interests than just games. Something completely new and different is what we were aiming for, the last thing we want
to do is spin-off from EOSERV and end up confined to the Endless Online audience (it hasn't provided to be very successful in the past). We'll have to take this elsewhere for further consideration, I think. ---
