Re: Joining the bandwagon -> ES EO Client
| Just chiming in to say this is a commendable effort on the part of Deathx. Unfortunately i'll never be able to use it, last I checked .NET and XNA didn't port well over to Mac OS X (as in, not at all), but hopefully this sets the ball rolling for future client development. --- EOSERV.net Academy Of Trolls, Satirists & Sarcastics 5.5 Years Former Site Administrator / Moderation Team / Member (Retired)

Re: Joining the bandwagon -> ES EO Client
| Sorry for not reading much of the topic, I have a random but relevant question: Will it support control pad input? I noticed the xbox controller icon on the top left of the window, which made me wonder.... :P --- Web developer, currently looking for graphic artists / designers.

| Klutz posted: (10th Jan 2012, 04:15 pm) The little pad icon is just XNA's default icon for its projects. It's possible for me to add pad support, but probably is an unnecessary effort. iMic posted: (10th Jan 2012, 04:14 pm) I managed to get it running on a pc that didn't have the .NET Framework installed on it at all due to including the .NET dll's along with the client. How ever it still requires XNA 3.1 Redist to be installed which is the down side. I wish I could have it work for mac users, but until I can think of something for that I just have to deal with what the windows users are gonna bitch about. Since my attempt at including the dll's for XNA failed due to it requiring all the DirectX resources as well; I just ended up making a little program to go with the client. The little program checks for the XNA version on the computer and if it doesn't find the version it needs then they can click the button to launch the installer that is included with the client. Including the dll's and the XNA installer pack with the client does add on some file size to the client, but at least I don't quite have to fight with idiots as much when the client won't run due to XNA missing. | Serj posted: (10th Jan 2012, 06:04 pm) Yeah I'm trying to progress as quickly as I can. Just I have this habit of unless what I have currently made is completely stable I wont move forward to any other features. So it takes a bit longer, but it's worth it. Edit - Also I'm stuck waiting for Zach(Divine) to finish up further GUI graphics even if I do push past all I have to do at the moment. --- ¨°º¤ø„º°¨ Exile Studios ¨°º„ø¤º°¨

Re: Joining the bandwagon -> ES EO Client
| Pro tip: Don't rush your project. You might cause a lot of hassle for yourself later on. I highly suggest planning any new features that you plan to add before even opening the source. This will help by making the code less messy and not hacked together. A game takes time to make so if people have to wait then so be it. The only time you should hack a game together is if you are doing a competition with limited time. This however is your project so treat it as you would work. --- I am an alien and not crazy!

Re: Joining the bandwagon -> ES EO Client
| Well I decided to make a video to show where I am now that I'm done working on it for today, so here's a video. It shows what I got completed today which is unequipping and item name & descriptions on hover. After uploading it I noticed how bad the quality was, so the next videos I make I'll make sure it comes out clearer. :P Edit - Screenies for those who don't feel like watching a video. Still much work to be done, but it's coming along. --- ¨°º¤ø„º°¨ Exile Studios ¨°º„ø¤º°¨ |
