Thats why i have a problem with eo vodka, i mean it took Apollo a very long time to get to where he is and its awesome the things he has done, but what is he trying to prove by keeping it to himself? It will NOT benefit anyone else or even him in the long run, eventually everything will shutdown and there will be nothing left. Then what? Even if he helped the community and released the bug fixes for the things he has found issues with, we can only use eoserv so far before we need to have a client to explore the possibility of something grander. Apparently people dont like to hear thetruth. Well heres a little known fact people: I give it about half a year left on here. Everyones done everything possible so theres nothing left, no original ideas. What do we continue with?

Edit: Sausage should release his eo.alt work that he has so someone can salvage it and start anew and work on it.

I know everyone is bashing you, but you are quite right that this community needs an open-source client. We've got one half of a game here, it's not sustainable.

obviously not if people "got it" there would not be so great of a need for  Open Source client software would there? like it or not you may not like hearing it  he is correct even if you find it annoying to hear.

Its all very simple really to understand where i am coming from. The people that have the ability to provide a new game client, wont. The people who are desperate for one, wont get one. Why hasn't there been a combined effort to create a new game client? Everyone keeps saying thats the next steptokeep a dying game alive, a fully open source customized game client. How come noone has stepped forward with that solution instead of showing off their creation? As i said i stated my opinion on how he has chosen to design it, i love the no paperdoll aspect. He has original ideas and i like toseethat.

i would have to agree with you here i know these other guys are all talking down to you but i commend you for speaking the truth here its okay to show off your work but its not okay for all these client codersto not step forward with the much needed other end of the Eoserv software (Desmond excluded)  even if its not fully finished in functionality with the source being open then other coders could give an attempt to not only help complete those bugs/unfinished aspects.thisisn't unreasonable or even selfish to ask maybe some of you don't like to hear talk like this because you feel "ive worked to hard to let a bunch of noobs have my source" but really looking at it another way if the shoe was on the other foot and you were the ones who are left in the lurchbecause the programmers of the community refused to fulfill the needs of the very community they are part of. but think of this if Sausage and the other people who helped the Server software get to this point kept all of it closed source where would allot of you be?

maybe you won't like me stepping in here and saying this but i had to because I've been saying similar things and feel confused by this ideal that an open sourced client isunattainable simply because people "don't feel like it"

+1

Best thing I read in a while.

So people noticed that I have a belt in place of a necklace, but nobody notices how the menu was too high, the player tab had too strong of a drop shadow, the chat-box is missing, and other major mistakes? lolxP

i would suppose they didn't notice because they assumed it was work in progress and glitches/features are easily edited and added in an open source client  :P

.... If you read what Exile stated before, he used a preview I gave him of the current progress on the in-game gui, and cropped out the center so he can start to work on the map rendering. That's a static image and isn't being used for anything. The female/male changes depending on the gender of your character, and all the items will work perfectly fine later on.
