Competition with a real prize.

Post #117553 Re: Competition with a real prize.

This is really sad for the ones taking on the competition. They made their program halfway and than it seems that we're doing a pixel competition. Than i would suggest give 1 code prize and 1 for artist. Not halfway changing to another topic. But what im saying is just in case you might change ur mind :P Just saying

The original rules were a bit challenging, especially for only having a week. I think I'll take a shot at it with these new rules.

Those come from the allegro spin-o-matic and with them you only get the weekend, (I know that people can pull them off in a week :P) however they are now really simple just for you guys.

@ Hollow, These rules will remain the same and sorry for any inconvenience.

The rules that are posted are really that simple that I could get a basic game working in a day. Now remember you guys have an entire week to add really nice extras so I'm expecting some good stuff from you guys :D

Here's my game: Click me

Goal: Get as many apples as you can. When it was food related i already started and didn't feel like changing the topic of the game.
I used some artwork from EO (Apples) and the sound [sfx files] are from EO. (Not very well graphics)

Including:

  • Sound
  • Graphics
  • Source
  • Gameplay

Credits: Hollow & Desmond for the competition :P

    My score: 157
    New score: 201

I have played the game but cannot really comment until after the competition.

I can give you a tip though and others should know this too. You are using more than two colours there. Yes you use Red and Grey but you are using different shades plus the apples have green stalks. Thought I should clear that up. Tell me if that's unfair by all means. I am a reasonable person.

Oh and don't stop now, You have the entire week to make changes and add new stuff :P

Well, I do like the PE file. Would have been easier to just use files to me.

Well it doesn't say anything in the rules about how the resources are stored :P

I really hope someone else joins in though as I have 3 copies of the game to give away :P

Than give all 3 to me xD jk. Anyways i'll continue working on it but in my opinion it's better to have 3 colors and different shades otherwise it looks pretty bad and that way you have more possibilities.

Well, I didn't say anything in the rules about not using different shades but still I did say 2 colours.

The thing's you'll have to change (if anyone else joins in else you win a copy anyway) are the random text since it's in different colours and the stalks.

These are an example of a 1 colour game with shades since I didn't say you couldn't :P

Well so far only one person has entered meaning I might have to hold either another competition or do summits else :P

If only Hollow participates then he will get a copy without waiting the extra two days since there will be nothing to judge.

1 Person = 1 Win
3 Person = 2 Win
4+ Person = 3 Win

That will help in if someone joins just to win a game without any effort.

If I where taking part I'd probably go with some kind of Pacman clone eating food but rendered 3D using GLSL to for fill your lighting rule. Probably be the easiest to write in under an hour. *hint hint*

another reason why i'm not joining XD, nah desmond i really like this, we should do this more often, to bad i really can't join this week because i got 9 exams this week and school is the most important right now. perhaps we can make another competition without any prize in a few weeks?
