| ![]() Does anyone know how to fix a messed up laptop screen without mechanically working on it? Like, if there's any virus out there that'll give you a messed up PC screen? O_O I'd take a screenshot of what mine looks like right now, but this computers so old and I can't. When I press down on my computer screen, it works fine.

| ![]() Well punch it until it works. :D

| ![]() Well not hard O_O. But if you press on it and it works than push on it. XD i am not a computer person.
|
| ![]() It didn't work. :/
|
| ![]() What's the definiton of messed up o_o --- stay tuned.

| ![]() Raped by bulls, beaten by kittens, scratched by dogs, eaten & spit out by a bear. P.S.: Get on MSN you whore-on-a-stick.

| ![]() Okay then, you probably need to call the SWAT team for this kind of situation. --- stay tuned.

| ![]() If you press down on it and it works, then the LCD Panel's shot. They're non-serviceable, other than removing the light spreaders they can't be opened up, hence the only way to fix them is to replace them with a new one. --- EOSERV.net Academy Of Trolls, Satirists & Sarcastics 5.5 Years Former Site Administrator / Moderation Team / Member (Retired)

|
| ![]() Prices are different with every make, model and screen size. That and I only know Apple prices on service parts. Best bet would be to call the manufacturer of your machine directly and find out. There is one other part it could be called the LVDS.cable (transmits data between the video chip and the LCD Panel), but you would have to send it in for testing to find out. These cables are much cheaper than replacing the entire LCD though. --- EOSERV.net Academy Of Trolls, Satirists & Sarcastics 5.5 Years Former Site Administrator / Moderation Team / Member (Retired)

| ![]() Actually, LCD screens range from $50-100, from my experiences with them. You can't take a screenshot of "what the screen looks like," by the way. It would take a screenshot of what's on the computer, not what you see. Replacing a screen isn't that hard, neither. If it's a laptop, remove the rubber pieces on the corners, and wherever else they are, unscrew all the screws, and it's pretty simple from there, I'm pretty sure a monkey could do this. But, if you have trouble, don't just yank the screen out, remember it is attached, you don't want to rip or break anything on it, check for screws or anything attached to the screen.. To find a screen: Amazon.com - Type in your computer Model and size screen. (eg. Acer Aspire 5532 15.6" replacement LCD screen) For a Monitor, unscrew all the screws, remove the front casing(i guess you can call it that?) and unscrew or unplug whatever is attached, then remove the screen, and replace. Same thing to find a screen, amazon. Other places to find screens would be Radio Shack, Best Buy, like.. check electronic stores near you, you know?

If you can press down on it and it works (near the edges) then it's most likely the ribbon connector has come unstuck. Find the edge that you need to press down on to make it work, find theribboncableatthisedge
(normally a flat orange film) and carefully iron it back on using either a *dry* clothes iron or my preferred tool of choice: ceramic hair straighteners!;] http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R4&_nkw=ghd+hair+straighteners&_sacat=See-All-Categories

(as this is eoserv I should mention this is a joke btw... The me needing, not the way to fix it)
