First tip, Windows Movie Maker blows. They launched it in 2000 with the intent of taking on Apple iMovie and managed to make a complete bodge of it. So stay away from that.

Lightworks looks a little more promising.

This is irrelevant but I edit videos on Xbox Live (Montages) and when we edit most people use Adobe After Effects CS5.5 (.) This program does not come with perfect slow motion but you can download a plug-in called Twixtor for CS5.5 (AAE). This creates that perfect slow motion (if you have agood FPS). Just a really helpful program if you need tutorials just look for something like

-Download Adobe After Effects Free

-Download Twixtor Pro Free (Make sure its After effects plug-in)

-How to use Twixtor

-How to use After Effects

Just look on Youtube.com for all of these items and well you may have to download UTorrent or something but most of them are free-hand downloads that don't need to download a torrent. Just look around all of this and if you ever need help let me know (If you use this program)

-THIS IS NOT FREE, but if you download from youtube *wink wink* it actually is.

After effects!!!!! Probably one of the best editing softwares.

I'm pretty sure After effects isnt mainly made for what hes looking for because after effects isnt very good at rendering.. it makes your files frikin huge, it's very hard to understand.

I suggest Sony Vegas, you can get the trial and a keygen off youtube. But just get the trial first.

after effects easy to us after a couple months of use sony vegas also easy to use but same as AE hard at first they are both high quality programs

After effects is more for editing like within like adding effects within the video sony vegas is more for basic properties but After effects is for the more visual users

I disagree on the "basic properties" I can edit a video VERY nicely on sony vegas, it's not basic at all when you get into the harder stuff. I've made loads of AMV's (anime music video) and i use sonyvegas and they all turn out with very nice quality, nice render time.

I agree I edit Music videos with it and quality is very nice
