Nice. Never mind i got all my parts picked out and i read how to and what you need. Just got order them and wait >.> (damn waiting.).
Make sure they all work together. Post the list if you want me to check them out and possibly help find cheaper parts or better prices, or just better stuff for your money. I helped Exile/Deathx build a quadcore for 200-300$, and my i7-950 + dual gtx 470's custom rig was only $1000 (and this
wasbefore sandy bridge so it was more expensive). So I'm usually pretty good with finding good deals and all.

You won't need more than 4-6 gigs of ram for a gaming computer. More than that is just a waste of money. Unless you do hardcore video editing or something that hogs memory like a boss.
Not always true, with the upcoming games they will start to require more ram. Building a comp now it's better to make it future proof and have extra ram than not have enough. But yes, you are correct according to current standards. But also anything more than a quad core is also useless for
gamingcurrently, but still nice to have.
@colby, why do you have two processors, two motherboards, and two gfx cards, all of opposite brands...?

No. Alienware is shit now. Since Dell bought them out they've been getting cheaper and cheaper...
My PC, custom build was $1,100, but i got $100 back in rebates. An alienware equal to mine, is $4,000. The ONLY difference between mine and an alienware is the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and case. But my case is better anyways.. xP.
tl;dr - Alienware blows.
