Starting Up a Project
Servers will eventually get boring, and go offline. Just think of it, they're mostly almost too easy. Even main EO used to be. People leveled up pretty fast and got rich fast, it also happenns in almost all of the other servers that go down, but somehow others seem to manage it and keep them up
without players getting bored. The trick is to make a server with low EXP rates like original EO had (around there).
I was thinking of putting up my last project I'll be working on for EO, a server that Beta will be released once at least 100+ maps have been added in with things to do in the game. With low EXP rates, but make it fun somehow with features & such so people would stay, practically a unique
servers, an attempt anyways.
Tell me if you would like a server like this:
Low EXP Rates (not too low)
3 stats per level
tons of maps
Mining, Fishing, Harvesting, Woodcutting, (in a unique way that hasn't been done before).
Class Based in a way,
Story Line In a way, like you could choose to free roam or follow the story.
Different Game Modes (maybe) for example when you first join the server and click a NPC and you have a choice on which modes to go to, like free roam, story, MiniGames, (Capture The Flag, other fun events) which would probably only happen if there were many players to do so. Also maybe cut that
to you could play those game modes once your already in game or something...
A client that's close to the original EO graphics color wise, with many of the same items.
If there were a group of people that worked hard on this type of server, and most of the things mentioned above. Do you think it would be a pretty fun server to play? Or would it be a complete waste of time that would die fast?

I would definitely like it, but I'm sticking to one server and one server only. I'm sure those who aren't would enjoy it though.

Fishing hervesting woodcutting mining =p
stats is 6 thats only difference in mine =p
and low exp rates and medium mob rates =p
over 100 maps =p

you would have sold me on the idea but the low exp rate and stat point makes me say weee mabe make it half hight but not to much and i'll help anyway i can to

lolss i agree with you. The servers that give 3,000 exp for killing a pig is just plain ridiculous. Low exp rate servers are the ones the last ex. EE.
I hope your server does well my friend =]

It's practically the accurate description of almost every server. I'm pretty sure you didn't make the features you mentioned above, so even if I did an exact copy of your server and it was unique as yours but it isn't , then it still wouldn't be copying you. It'd be copying the person who
madethat revision, and most people are using Ice & Fire so I'm guessing you are using it as well.
Anyways, I was also thinking of having an advanced pet system :P

I think one of the things that Ive recently noticed is how you implement your added features such as harvs,mine pets,gambling etc. Even though Ive had these features + more for a long time no one knows it when they start your server, so that is the best time to start showing of
yourfeatures.Iveseen alot of people log in and think "ah just another private server" So throw some originality at um gfx,added features,new soundtracks and have a decent moderator that is dedicated to helping and responding to peoples needs etc!
Anyway just somthing that ive seen an increase in my player counts after implementing this method/s.
Oh and to low of rates is just dumb and makes me not wanta train unless lvlup is like 20 stats or rewarding enough 10ish, if you have low ass rates and 3 points gained at lvl up WHAT THE HELL IS THAT im gone!

High statsperlevel ruin the game play, there's no longer needs in stats in items in less you make the stats high which will get players attack really high, I don't want it to be a server where 10k attack is high, I want it so hiting 100's is high and really good. Like EO used to be .

My argument is if the statperlvl is low then to exprates should be decent or flipped if stats per lvl is high like 10+ then exprates should be low, not like my old server En where exp rates were super high stats per lvl were 20, 10k was a good attack. Now I have lvl 30 players doing doing
200 damage with a lvl 10 pet doing 150 damage and 100 damage spells, and 10 stats per lvl, exprates are = to main give or take 1-5 exp and people seem happy!

I agree kind of :P maybe original EO's EXP is a little bit too low, I was just thinking , because I don't want an overpowered server like always. But it looks like you know what you're talking about, because from what I see you have a very successful server and a great community and economy.

Its just finding the right balance and youve done many guides which show that, and have helped me out. Getting the stats and exprate at a perfect balance is tough!
Also quests and crafting creates gameplay and keeps people occupied I would suggest lots of each of those things!
