Lol, why don't you google it and reply once im back, and DOS and BIOS isnt in windows, you need DOS and a BIOS before you even have a OS

DOS - DOS, short for "Disk Operating System",[1] is an acronym for several closely related operating systems that dominated the IBM PC compatible market between 1981 and 1995, or until about 2000 if one includes the partially DOS-based Microsoft Windows versions 95, 98, and Millennium Edition.

BIOS - The BIOS software is built into the PC, and is the first code run by a PC when powered on ('boot firmware'). The primary function of the BIOS is to set up the hardware and load and start a boot loader. When the PC starts up, the first job for the BIOS is to initialize and identify system devices such as the video display card, keyboard and mouse, hard disk drive, optical disc drive and other hardware. The BIOS then locates software held on a peripheral device (designated as a 'boot device'), such as a hard disk or a CD/DVD, and loads and executes that software, giving it control of the PC.

You people irk me with your stupidity. You cant have DOS before you have an OS, especially because *nix doesn't even use DOS, it's the base of Microsoft's operating systems. Lmfao. The BIOS, as stated above, only loads the boot loader.

Boot Loader - Modern operating systems and application program code and data are stored on nonvolatile data storage devices, such as hard drives, CD, DVD, flash memory cards (like an SD card), USB flash drive, and floppy disk. When a computer is first powered on, it usually does not have an operating system in ROM or RAM. The computer must execute a relatively small program stored in ROM along with the bare minimum of data needed to access the nonvolatile devices from which the operating system programs and data are loaded into RAM.

Like i said, the Boot Loader, or Boot Manager, is located on the hard disk. Need any more proof, Captain Ignorance?
